(Ferd. Bibl. Uli, i. 2). Ausser dem um das Jahr 1194 erbauten Schloss Altenburg, das bereits um 1600 eine Ruine war (Cod. Wang. 122. 1.40. Burglechner 3, 4, 1082), wurden Enchsberg als Stammschioas der Euchs und Gandegg als nachmaliges Gerichtsschloss und Sitz der Freiherrn und Grafen von Khuen, die es prachtig herstellten, von grosster Bedeutung (von Mayrhofer Genealogien). Mit dem Scluosse Boimont war seit 1228 das Fischereirecht auf den Seen zu Montiggl und das Jagdrecht in dieser Gegend verbunden, wozu Herzog Friedrich deren Inhabern das Eischereirecht auf dem Etschstrom gab (Bonelli Notizie 3, 188. Statth.-Arch. Schatzarch. Lade 130). Diesen Burgen zunachst kamen die Schlosser Englar, Wart, Mareit und Mos, die alle Ansitze reicher und machtiger Adelsfamilien waren, aber auch zu den minder bekannten, wie Freudenstein, St. Valentin, Matatsch u. a. gehorten schone Guter, Gulten, ...
