Imray Norie's Nautical Tables 2022 (Hardcover, New edition): Imray Imray Norie's Nautical Tables 2022 (Hardcover, New edition)
Imray; Edited by François Hugo
R1,115 Discovery Miles 11 150 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Since J W Norie published the first edition of his Complete Set of Nautical Tables and Epitome of Practical Navigation in 1803, many changes to the tables have been necessary in both content and presentation. New tables have been included, obsolete ones deleted to conform with changing techniques of navigation, with the aim of improving the accuracy of the calculated position and reducing the tedium of the calculation. Since the commissioning of the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), its proven accuracy and reliability in all weather conditions have resulted in confidence and almost unquestioning dependence on its ability to provide a vessel’s position, course and speed. Its use is widespread but the marine environment is a hostile one and failure of electronic equipment or of the system itself is a possibility. No prudent seafarer would proceed on an ocean passage without a reliable navigational back-up. The Explanation is in the form of a detailed step-by-step description, by means of worked examples, of the different methods of performing navigational calculations using a scientific calculator and/or the tables. A number of esteemed editors have worked on Nories’ Nautical Tables over the years and this edition includes new contributions from François Hugo. This edition now presents formulae in an appropriate format for direct entry to a scientific calculator. Because the possibility of navigation without even an appropriate calculator exists, the logarithms have been retained. • All the tables required for coastal and deep sea navigation are included • A simple uniform method of interpolation for all the trigonometrical tables is used • Certain tables and data are also included which are not readily available on board ship or are only used in the examination room.

This well-respected title is an essential companion for anyone cruising these waters. “A typical high quality Imray product: clear print on good paper with profuse illustration by chartlet and photography; edited with all the authority of those who have ‘been there’. There is much fine aerial imagery and a robust spiral binding allows open-flat handling, convenient for chart table and cockpit use. An impressive successor to the well-respected originals”. A Different View of Curriculum and Assessment for Severe, Complex and Profound Learning Disabilities: Peter Imray, Lila... A Different View of Curriculum and Assessment for Severe, Complex and Profound Learning Disabilities
Peter Imray, Lila Kossyvaki, Michael Sissons
R4,124 Discovery Miles 41 240 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

A Different View of Curriculum and Assessment links a theoretical pedagogical model with a sympathetic practical model of curriculum and assessment difference for those with PMLD, CLD and SLD. Split into two parts, this accessible resource combines theoretical explanations with first-hand accounts of how this works in educational establishments, through the analysis of evidence-based practice carried out in a number of English special (specialist) schools. The expert authors challenge the notion that a national, or common core standards, curriculum, however expertly differentiated, is fit-for-purpose for the PMLD, CLD and SLD populations in any country. A Different View offers cogent and reasoned arguments for considering that irrespective of age, such learners learn differently to their neuro-typical, conventionally developing peers. If they learn differently, this book shows how we should be teaching them differently. Reflecting the centrality of process over product, this book will clearly explain how each individual learner might be enabled and facilitated to become the best they can be and do the best they can do, in order to fully realise their potential as equal and independent citizens.

North Sea Passage Pilot 2022 (Hardcover, 7th New edition): Garth Cooper, Imray North Sea Passage Pilot 2022 (Hardcover, 7th New edition)
Garth Cooper, Imray
R1,001 Discovery Miles 10 010 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Under his authorship, this edition has been restructured to reflect the changing nature of passages across the North Sea. As well as a consideration of the various Traffic Separation Schemes, routes take into account the many new offshore windfarms and oil and gas extraction platforms. As its name suggests, the emphasis of this pilot is on the passage routes, whether taking a more direct line between the UK and the Continent or incorporating hops along the East Coast and the adjacent coasts of France, Belgium and Holland. Pilotage is included for a selection of key ports. Updated plans and numerous new photographs help to illustrate the key features to help guide you across this challenging yet rewarding stretch of water.

Cruising Anglesey and Adjoining Waters 2021 - From Liverpool to Aberdovey (Paperback, 10th New edition): Imray, Ralph Morris Cruising Anglesey and Adjoining Waters 2021 - From Liverpool to Aberdovey (Paperback, 10th New edition)
Imray, Ralph Morris
R1,144 Discovery Miles 11 440 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

Over the years, the pilot has been extended and it now provides information about tides, dangers, harbours and anchorages from Liverpool (marina) to Aberdovey (the same waters covered by Imray's 2700 chart pack), plus the author's own chart graphics. This fully updated, tenth edition is spiral-bound for easy cockpit use, full colour, chart graphics, aerial views (courtesy of Google Earth) and nearly 100 original photos. It also makes reference to the most noteworthy event in recent years- the wholesale destruction of Holyhead Marina by Storm Emma in March 2018. Ralph Morris learned his way around Anglesey the hard way - in a day boat with a single chart and a compass which one day chose to fail in fog. That's not the only thing which prompted the decision to write this pilot, though- the prime mover was the increasing scarcity of Henry Glazebrook's 'Anglesey & North Wales Coast Pilot', which got him out of many tight corners. The detail and precision of Glazebrook's "Anglesey & North Wales Coast Pilot" is legendary and, through this guide, the author hopes to maintain its accessibility to all yachties sailing these waters.

This new edition, updated by Edward Mason, continues the long-respected legacy of CCC publications for cruising sailors. Information on harbours and marinas has been thoroughly revised, and plans have been updated throughout. Several new photographs have been included to help to identify key navigational features as well as to entice further exploration. Details on plans have been updated with reference to the Imray chart pack for the area (2800 Kintyre to Ardnamurchan).
