Greek Waters Pilot is the definitive cruising guide to the coasts
and islands of Greece, covering the entire area from the Ionian
Islands to the Aegean, Rhodes and Crete and includes details of
over 450 harbours and anchorages in a single volume. Greek Waters
Pilot has been painstakingly compiled from Rod and Lucinda
Heikell's own survey work and exploration over four decades, as
well as first-hand information from their network of contributors.
The organisation of so much detail within the confines of a single
volume is impressive. This, the fourteenth edition, marks the
fortieth anniversary of the first edition of this celebrated
cruising guide. It has once again been thoroughly updated to
reflect developments and changes across the whole region. Enriched
with fascinating historical, mythological and gastronomic
information, Greek Waters Pilot is an incomparable resource and
companion for anyone planning to spend time in these endlessly
enticing waters.
Fully revised for its third edition, the Oxford Handbook of
Expedition and Wilderness Medicine continues to be the essential
resource for all expedition medics and well-informed travellers, as
well as nurses, paramedics, medical students, and other expedition
members travelling in remote, wilderness areas of the world. Now
containing more guidance about caving medicine, the third edition
includes revised and additional illustrations and essential maps of
the spread of diseases. Clear and concise, readers can rely on this
handbook to provide the key knowledge and practical advice they
need. It enables efficient preparation and planning before the
journey, advises on camp logistics, risk management, and medical
problems during the expedition, as well as highlighting rare but
important risks to those visiting remote areas. Focusing on
preventative measures, it also contains chapters dealing with
crisis management, emergency care, and evacuation from challenging
environments, with guidance about the obligations of a clinician
joining an expedition, ethical approaches to such work, and
medicine in various extreme environments. This edition will give
you the confidence and skills you need to travel to any extreme or
remote environment. Incorporating the combined knowledge and
experience of a team of experienced clinicians and expeditioners,
this is a practical, easy-to-use guide to all aspects of expedition
and wilderness medicine.

Imray-Tetra charts for the Ionian and Aegean are widely
acknowledged as the best available for the cruising sailor. They
combine the latest official survey data with first-hand information
gathered by Rod and Lucinda Heikell. The chart is designed to be
used alongside Imray pilot guides of the area. Like all Imray
charts, they are printed on water resistant Pretex paper for
durability, and they include many anchorages, facilities and inlets
not included on official charts. This edition includes the latest
official data combined with additional information sourced from
Imray's network to make it ideal for small craft. It includes the
latest official bathymetric surveys. There has been general
updating throughout.
Chart 100 shows the main trend of depth contours, limits of ice,
magnetic variations and keys routes as identified by Donald M.
Street Jr. In the enclosed booklet are pilot charts showing winds,
currents and wave height frequencies with accompanying notes on
favourable route timings and hurricane risk. Chart 100 is an
important companion for Atlantic yachtsmen on passage and an
excellent source of planning information.
Within easy reach of all the main harbours and marinas lie an
abundance of lochs and islands with numerous idyllic anchorages to
explore. Some of these are easy to find, others pose more of a
navigational challenge and are accessed via intricate channels
using a series of well-described transits, others lie beyond
turbulent tidal sounds. All reward with stunning scenery and there
is somewhere for everyone, whether on a first-time visit, or a
return to familiar waters. This new edition, updated by Edward
Mason, continues the long-respected legacy of CCC publications for
cruising sailors. Information on harbours and marinas has been
thoroughly revised, and plans have been updated throughout. Several
new photographs have been included to help to identify key
navigational features as well as to entice further exploration.
Details on plans have been updated with reference to the Imray
chart pack for the area (2800 Kintyre to Ardnamurchan). References
to Bob Bradfield's useful Antares large scale charts are also
included. Supplements are available to download from the club's
website.
A Different View of Curriculum and Assessment links a theoretical
pedagogical model with a sympathetic practical model of curriculum
and assessment difference for those with PMLD, CLD and SLD. Split
into two parts, this accessible resource combines theoretical
explanations with first-hand accounts of how this works in
educational establishments, through the analysis of evidence-based
practice carried out in a number of English special (specialist)
schools. The expert authors challenge the notion that a national,
or common core standards, curriculum, however expertly
differentiated, is fit-for-purpose for the PMLD, CLD and SLD
populations in any country. A Different View offers cogent and
reasoned arguments for considering that irrespective of age, such
learners learn differently to their neuro-typical, conventionally
developing peers. If they learn differently, this book shows how we
should be teaching them differently. Reflecting the centrality of
process over product, this book will clearly explain how each
individual learner might be enabled and facilitated to become the
best they can be and do the best they can do, in order to fully
realise their potential as equal and independent citizens.
This 8th edition has been fully revised to include new information
on marinas, visitor moorings and anchorages, with all the attendant
facilities available to cruising sailors. There is also plenty to
give historical context and to whet the appetite for visits and
exploration ashore. Plans have been updated throughout. Numerous
photographs help to orientate, inform and inspire, including a new
set of images for the Italian coast and Venice lagoon. For
occasional charterers or long-term cruisers alike, Trevor and Dinah
Thompson's thorough and comprehensive work should be the first
choice of any cruising sailor wanting to make the most of this rich
and diverse coastline. Adriatic Pilot is complemented by Imray's
series of charts for the Dalmatian coast.

Since J W Norie published the first edition of his Complete Set of
Nautical Tables and Epitome of Practical Navigation in 1803, many
changes to the tables have been necessary in both content and
presentation. New tables have been included, obsolete ones deleted
to conform with changing techniques of navigation, with the aim of
improving the accuracy of the calculated position and reducing the
tedium of the calculation. Since the commissioning of the Global
Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), its proven accuracy and
reliability in all weather conditions have resulted in confidence
and almost unquestioning dependence on its ability to provide a
vessel’s position, course and speed. Its use is widespread but
the marine environment is a hostile one and failure of electronic
equipment or of the system itself is a possibility. No prudent
seafarer would proceed on an ocean passage without a reliable
navigational back-up. The Explanation is in the form of a detailed
step-by-step description, by means of worked examples, of the
different methods of performing navigational calculations using a
scientific calculator and/or the tables. A number of esteemed
editors have worked on Nories’ Nautical Tables over the years and
this edition includes new contributions from François Hugo. This
edition now presents formulae in an appropriate format for direct
entry to a scientific calculator. Because the possibility of
navigation without even an appropriate calculator exists, the
logarithms have been retained. • All the tables required for
coastal and deep sea navigation are included • A simple uniform
method of interpolation for all the trigonometrical tables is used
• Certain tables and data are also included which are not readily
available on board ship or are only used in the examination room.
Successor to Henry Irving's long-established guide to the nooks and
crannies of this fascinating corner of the east coast of England,
this new title has extended coverage under the authorship of
retired harbourmaster and local cruising sailor Peter Harvey. Some
choose to bypass this beautiful section of coast and its
extraordinary natural habitats, but this cruising guide gives
inspiration to anyone who wishes to explore the many shallow creeks
and deeper historic harbours of Norfolk, Lincolnshire and the
Humber. With thoroughly updated text and plans and new photographs
throughout, The Wash and Humber remains an essential companion to
this interesting and rewarding section of our coastline.
The second edition of this well-received title from the Royal
Cruising Club Pilotage Foundation covers the entire Mediterranean
mainland coast of Spain from Gibraltar to the French border. This
is the only detailed pilot for the Spanish Mediterranean coast
running up from Gibraltar to the border with France. It covers a
varied cruising area that includes the mountain-backed Costas del
and Sol and Blanca, the expansive lagoon of the Mar Menor, the
low-lying Ebro delta and the rugged Costa Brava. In between are
several great cities including Malaga, Valencia, Tarragona and
Barcelona, the Catalan capital. The volume opens with Gibraltar and
La Linea. With Imray charts for the same coast, Mediterranean Spain
provides all the data necessary for anyone based in Spain,
transiting to and from areas further East or the Balearics, or just
exploring this rich and varied coast and its hinterland. The
coverage has been revised with the text updated, new plans added
and other plan updates based on the latest information. This
edition has been enhanced by the addition of over 100 aerial
photographs showing coastline and harbour approaches.
Fully updated, and with new sections on behaviourism, attachment
disorders, neuro-scientific developments and working with
dis-engaged learners, this second edition of Turning the Tables
contains real-life case studies, strategies for identification and
handy hints and tips throughout. It is the authoritative guide to
tackling challenging behaviour and working effectively with
children, young people and adults with severe learning difficulties
(SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and those
on the autistic spectrum with a dual ASD and learning difficulties
diagnosis. With a unique approach, the author stresses the need to
diagnose not only the correct difficulty but the degree of learning
difficulty for a lasting resolution, as well as tackling common
behavioural problems such as attention needing and task avoidance.
Chapters are split into three specific areas, SLD, PMLD and
ASD/SLD, covering: the 'Magnificent Seven' fundamental principles
of challenging behaviour strategies for correct identification of
the main area of learning difficulty improving teaching methods and
strategies to resolve challenging behaviour, including handy hints
and tips when things don't go to plan extensive use of real case
studies to illustrate strategies for resolution guidance on writing
your own Behaviour Support Plan. This is a practical and
authoritative guide to dealing with the myriad of challenging
behaviours that constantly puzzle practitioners. It is an essential
read for all professionals, parents and carers working with
children, young people and adults with SLD, SLD/ASD and PMLD.
Inclusion is Dead is a provocative polemic against the widely held
notion that inclusion for all children and young people with SEN is
both possible and desirable. For those with severe learning
difficulties (SLD) and profound and multiple learning difficulties
(PMLD), the authors argue, it is neither. Imray and Colley assert
that the dominance of inclusion has meant that there has been no
serious attempt to look at the educational difficulties faced by
learners with PMLD and SLD. As a vision of egalitarianism and
equality for all, they say, inclusion is dead. The authors
controversially believe that unless education changes, it will
remain as a disabling institution that does the exact opposite of
its intention. The book presents the argument that theorists of
inclusion have failed to provide practical solutions on how
inclusion can be achieved when SLD and PMLD learners are involved,
as well as discussing the drawbacks of the 'inclusion for all
argument'. With up-to-date references throughout, Inclusion is Dead
will be an insightful read for teachers and SENCO trainers, as well
as postgraduates and undergraduates studying courses on politics,
philosophy and society.
The intricate and stunning coastline of lochs and islands offers a
rich and varied cruising ground with a multitude of anchorages,
many beneath a dramatic backdrop of munros. This third edition,
updated by Edward Mason, includes revised text and a selection of
new photographs. Details on plans have been updated and include
information from Bob Bradfield’s Antares large scale charts. This
well-respected title is an essential companion for anyone cruising
these waters. “A typical high quality Imray product: clear print
on good paper with profuse illustration by chartlet and
photography; edited with all the authority of those who have
‘been there’. There is much fine aerial imagery and a robust
spiral binding allows open-flat handling, convenient for chart
table and cockpit use. An impressive successor to the
well-respected originals”. Edward Cartner, Cruising Magazine
‘Like its predecessor, it is comprehensive, with an abundance of
information, clear navigational directions, easily read plans and
some beautiful photographs.’ Royal Cruising Club.
Plans included: Monte Argentario (1:100 000) Bonifacio Strait
(1:225 000) Golfo di Salerno (1:100 000) For this 2014 edition the
chart has been fully updated throughout using revised depths where
applicable. The full list of recently deployed AIS transmitters are
shown across the chart, as is the new marina in Rada di Salerno.
Almost a century later, in 2002, it became the Cruising Almanac,
published by Imray, that we all recognise today. This 2023 edition,
introduced by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, CBE, Patron of the Cruising
Association. Compiled annually by a team of Cruising Association
editors and Imray, the Almanac covers Northwest Europe from the
Shetlands in the north to Gibraltar in the south and from the
Baltic in the east to the west coast of Ireland. Based on
first-hand experience and official data, all the content, including
text, plans and tidal data, is checked and updated for each new
edition. Over 750 port entries sit alongside readily identifiable
blue boxed passage notes, enabling easy access to the information
you need, both for passage planning and whilst at sea. 2023 tide
tables for 47 standard ports are included in a separate booklet.
The main Almanac contains tidal stream diagrams: full tidal details
for secondary ports are included with the text for the relevant
port. Updating of the Almanac continues throughout the year, with
corrections published monthly on the Cruising Association website
Almanac corrections page.
The ninth edition of Inland Waterways of France is the ideal guide
for planning cruises in and through the most fascinating and
diverse waterway network in Europe. This edition takes a new
paperback format, split into three volumes. Author David
Edwards-May presents a detailed overview of the waterways extending
from the English Channel through Northern France, Picardy and Paris
to Central France and Burgundy. This system totals 2700 kilometres
of waterways that are as vibrant as ever, and include the new
Seine-Nord Europe Canal, now under construction, to be completed by
2028. Recreational use is growing alongside the commercial traffic
on the busier waterways, while Champagne, Burgundy and Central
France have become cruising destinations in their own right. This
first volume of the new edition sets out the current state of the
network in 200 pages in full colour, with detailed maps of
junctions and other key sites on the network, overview maps for
each waterway, and route descriptions. It is a unique blend of
practical information, maps, background historical notes and colour
photographs.
Curricula for Teaching Children and Young People with Severe or
Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties offers a range of
compelling arguments for a distinct and separate pedagogical
approach to the learning needs of the most educationally
challenging pupils. This book, written in accessible, common sense
and non-academic language, provides an easy-to-follow alternative
curriculum specifically designed to enhance and enrich the learning
of children with profound and multiple learning difficulties.
Chapter by chapter, guidelines and support are offered in key
curriculum areas, some of which include: Cognition Language,
Literacy and Communication Mathematical Physical Sensory Creative
Care Play Problem solving. This highly practical resource is
essential reading for any educational professional, parents, school
governors, teachers, teaching assistants, therapists and indeed
anyone involved with maximising the educational opportunities of
those with profound learning difficulties.
Over the years, the pilot has been extended and it now provides
information about tides, dangers, harbours and anchorages from
Liverpool (marina) to Aberdovey (the same waters covered by Imray's
2700 chart pack), plus the author's own chart graphics. This fully
updated, tenth edition is spiral-bound for easy cockpit use, full
colour, chart graphics, aerial views (courtesy of Google Earth) and
nearly 100 original photos. It also makes reference to the most
noteworthy event in recent years- the wholesale destruction of
Holyhead Marina by Storm Emma in March 2018. Ralph Morris learned
his way around Anglesey the hard way - in a day boat with a single
chart and a compass which one day chose to fail in fog. That's not
the only thing which prompted the decision to write this pilot,
though- the prime mover was the increasing scarcity of Henry
Glazebrook's 'Anglesey & North Wales Coast Pilot', which got
him out of many tight corners. The detail and precision of
Glazebrook's "Anglesey & North Wales Coast Pilot" is legendary
and, through this guide, the author hopes to maintain its
accessibility to all yachties sailing these waters.
