"True Identity" presents a collection of narrative poetry that shares a spiritual enlightenment and an awakening of heritage through personal stories, original verse, art, Bible verses, and images. The story begins with the end of one journey that leads to a spiritual awakening in the next one. Author India Wilson believes that it is sociologically important for the so-called black race to know their true identity because it affects their moral fiber, social mobility, and total well-being.
