This book constitutes the proceedings of the 7th Mediterranean Conference on Information Systems, MCIS 2012, held in Guimaraes, Portugal, in September 2012. TC8 aims to promote and encourage the advancement of research and practice of concepts, methods, techniques and issues related to information systems in organisations. .We 'meet' Kadi on the morning she is to be circumcised when she is still blissfully ignorant of what is about to happen to her. We see her at home, going about her daily chores, eating her breakfast and then accompany her on the journey to the village where the operation is to take place. Photos depict the sacrifice of a chicken as a precursor to her own circumcision and then we witness as Kadi is taken by the buankisa (circumciser), made to undress, held down and then cut.

While the photographs are very confronting, they are portrayed with sensitivity and delicacy, yet evoke sadness and anger, which we hope will serve to rally readers against this practice. A prologue by Dr Olayinka Koso-Thomas, renowned for her work in Africa to end FGM, gives a context for FGM historically and now, and an explanatory text outlines what female genital mutilation actually is.

This book provides a selection of the best papers presented at the 18th Conference of the Portuguese Association for Information Systems (CAPSI), which was held in 2018. La presente investigacion estudia las vinculaciones entre transporte y desarrollo economico en Bolivia, Colombia y Venezuela entre 1990 y 2005 y la trascendencia del sector como una relevante estrategia de desarrollo para estos paises, encuadrandose este estudio dentro del enfoque sistemico de la competitividad y de la perspectiva de la Nueva Geografia Economica (NGE). A traves de este trabajo se demuestra que, durante dieciseis anos, ha habido una deficiente provision del transporte en estos paises, traduciendose en un importante rezago socioeconomico. Ademas de hacerse referencia a la contribucion que, en general, ha tenido el transporte a lo largo de la historia, se establece el perfil y la importancia del sector para estos paises andinos, estableciendose las razones de la configuracion del transporte para cada uno de ellos y las consecuencias generadas por esta disposicion."
