Spork is neither spoon nor fork but, rather, a bit of both. His
(spoon) mother and (fork) father think he's perfect just the way he
is. Only, Spork stands out. All the other cutlery belongs with
those like themselves, and they all have a specific purpose. Spork
tries fitting in with the spoons, and then with the forks, but he
isn't quite enough like either. Instead, he watches from the drawer
at dinnertime as the others get to play with the food and then
enjoy a nice warm bath in the sink. But one morning, a messy thing
arrives. A thing that has obviously never heard of cutlery customs
or table manners. Will Spork finally find his place at the table?
A gorgeous, inspiring picture book about how one simple act can be
the beginning of real change—from popular author Kat Yeh
and award-winning illustrator Isabelle Arsenault. An ideal gift,
this is perfect for fans of What the Road Said. Your one little
light cannot light the whole sky but it is enough to begin. This
luminous picture book is a powerful reminder to readers of any age
that no matter how dark it may seem, even the smallest glimmer of
hope can make a difference.Â

Curious minds are rewarded with curious answers in a fantastical bedtime book by Mac Barnett and Isabelle Arsenault.
Why is the ocean blue? What is rain? What happened to the dinosaurs?
It might be time for bed, but one child is too full of questions about the world to go to sleep just yet. Little ones and their parents will be charmed and delighted as a patient father offers up increasingly creative responses to his child’s night-time wonderings. Any child who has ever asked “Why?” – and any parent who has attempted an explanation – will recognize themselves in this sweet storybook for dreamers who are looking for answers beyond “just because”.
Louise Bourgeois (1911-2010) was a world-renowned modern artist
noted for her sculptures made of wood, steel, stone, and cast
rubber. Her most famous spider sculpture, Maman, stands more than
30 feet high. Just as spiders spin and repair their webs, Louise's
own mother was a weaver of tapestries. Louise spent her childhood
in France as an apprentice to her mother before she became a
tapestry artist herself. She worked with fabric throughout her
career, and this biographical picture book shows how Bourgeois's
childhood experiences weaving with her loving, nurturing mother
provided the inspiration for her most famous works. With a
beautifully nuanced and poetic story, this book stunningly captures
the relationship between mother and daughter and illuminates how
memories are woven into us all.

His mum is a spoon. His dad is a fork. And he's a bit of both. He's
Spork! Spork sticks out in the regimented world of the cutlery
drawer. The spoons think he's too pointy, while the forks find him
too round. He never gets chosen to be at the table at mealtimes
until one day a very messy ... thing arrives in the kitchen who has
never heard of cutlery customs. Will Spork finally find his place
at the table? This multi-cutlery tale is a humorous and lively
commentary on individuality and tolerance. Its high-spirited
illustrations capture the experience and emotions of anyone who has
ever wondered about their place in the world.

A funny and stylish picture book based loosely on the relationship
between the literary figure Virginia Woolf and her sister, the
painte Vannessa Ball. Vanessa's sister, Virginia, is in a wolfish
mood - growling, howling and acting very strange. It's a funk so
fierce, the whole household feels topsy-turvy. Vanessa tries
everything she can think of to cheer her up, but nothing seems to
work. Then Virginia tells Vanessa about an imaginary, perfect place
called Bloomsberry. Armed with an idea, Vanessa begins to paint
Bloomsberry on the bedroom walls...

A New York Times Book Review choice as one of the 10 Best
Illustrated Children's Books of 2011, an Amelia Frances
Howard-Gibbon Award Honour Book, and finalist for the Governor
General's Award: Children's Illustration and Ruth and Sylvia
Schwartz Children's Book Awards: Picture Book Each spring Anna
leaves her home in Mexico and travels north with her family where
they will work on farms. Sometimes she feels like a bird, flying
north in the spring and south in the fall. Sometimes she feels like
a jack rabbit living in an abandoned burrow, as her family moves
into an empty house near the fields. But most of all she wonders
what it would be like to stay in one place. The Low German-speaking
Mennonites from Mexico are a unique group of migrants who moved
from Canada to Mexico in the 1920s and became an important part of
the farming community there. But it has become increasingly
difficult for them to earn a livelihood, and so they come back to
Canada each year as migrant workers in order to survive. And while
they currently have the right to work in Canada, that right may be
challenged. Working conditions are difficult for all migrant
workers, most of whom have to leave families far behind. And yet
countries like Canada and the United States benefit greatly from
their labor. Beautifully written by Maxine Trottier and
imaginatively illustrated by Isabelle Arsenault, this book
describes what it is like to be a child in a migrant family.

her sister Vanessa must help her feel better. But how can one girl
save another from turning into a grumpy, gobbling wolf? The only
way to find out is to pick up a paintbrush and see where your
imagination takes you.
