While online learning was an existing practice, the COVID-19
pandemic greatly accelerated its capabilities and forced
educational organizations to swiftly introduce online learning for
all units. Though schools will not always be faced with forced
online learning, it is apparent that there are clear advantages and
disadvantages to this teaching method, with its usage in the future
cemented. As such, it is imperative that methods for measuring and
assessing the effectiveness of online and blended learning are
examined in order to improve outcomes and future practices.
Measurement Methodologies to Assess the Effectiveness of Global
Online Learning aims to assess the effectiveness of online teaching
and learning in normal and pandemic situations by addressing
challenges and opportunities of adoption of online platforms as
well as effective learning strategies, investigating the best
pedagogical practices in digital learning, questioning how to
improve student motivation and performance, and managing and
measuring academic workloads online. Covering a wide range of
topics such as the future of education and digital literacy, it is
ideal for teachers, instructional designers, curriculum developers,
educational software developers, academics, researchers, and
students.
Crossing the Bridge of the Digital Divide: A Walk with Global
Leaders explores the combined effect of the rapid growth of
information as an increasingly fragmented information base, a large
component of which is available only to people with money and/or
acceptable institutional affiliations. In the recent past, the
outcome of these challenges has been characterized as the ""digital
divide"" between the information "haves" and "have nots" along
racial and socio economic lines that seem to widen as time passes.
To address the issues of digital equity and digital inequality in
an effort to bridge the digital divide, educational scholars,
researchers and practitioners are in positions to ensure equitable
opportunities are made available for people of all ages, races,
ability, sexual orientation, and ethnicity in support of social
justice for bridging the digital divide. The digital divide
addresses issues concerning equal opportunity, equity and access
that have an effect on the development of marginalized and
otherwise disenfranchised populations within and across systems
nationally and internationally. The contributing authors-
representing Unites States, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, and
the UK - posit that education institutions can serve as the bridge
to close the digital divide for students who do not have access to
information technology in their homes. At a time when more
computers are made available in schools than ever before, the
digital divide continues to widen and fewer people in the lowest
SES groups are given the opportunity to join the world of computer
technology and the internet. As a result, the influence of
leadership activity on institutional racism, gender discrimination,
inequality of opportunity, inequity of educational processes,
digital exclusion, and justice have gained currency and attention.
The contributing national and international authors examine the
digital divide in terms of social justice leadership, equity and
access. It is within this context that the authors offer
discussions from a lens of their choice, i.e. conceptual, review of
literature, epistemological, etc. By adopting an educational
approach to bridging the digital divide, researchers and
practitioners can connect and extend long- established lines of
conceptual and empirical inquiry aimed at improving organizational
practices and thereby gain insights that might be otherwise
overlooked, or assumed. This holds great promise for generating,
refining, and testing theories of leadership for equity and access,
and helps strengthen already vibrant lines of inquiry on social
justice.

What is religion? Where does it come from? Which religion best fits
our needs? Mankind has always been curious to discover what's
beyond the visible. From the moment that confusion surrounded the
existence and the true identity of God, new sciences developed, and
many philosophers fell into question. Many more questions have
followed ever since. In Beyond the Visible: Uniting Science and
Religion, author Issa Gammoh ponders some of these age-old
questions, considering whether there is a universally true answer.
In the twenty-first century, with humanity's advanced knowledge and
ways of thinking, science is getting closer to resolving many of
the questions that have been confounding humanity for centuries.
The discovery of the Higgs field, the derivation of the famous
equation E=mc2, a better psychological understanding of ourselves,
and our developing knowledge about neurology--all of these and much
more provide us with guidance. One way of thinking can link all of
these concepts together to reach scientific answers about many
unknowns that humanity has pursued for many generations.Beyond the
Visible travels a path of discovery to find the link between many
unknown phenomena and theories. This journey seeks to erase your
confusion with what will be the scientific evidences of invisible
randomness. Expand your consciousness and understanding about life
and the world in which you are living.

Digital Milton is the first volume to investigate John Milton in
terms of our digital present. It explores the digital environments
Milton now inhabits as well as the diverse digital methods that
inform how we read, teach, edit, and analyze his works. Some
chapters use innovative techniques, such as processing metadata
from vast archives of early modern prose, coding Milton's
geographical references on maps, and visualizing debt networks from
literature and from life. Other chapters discuss the technologies
and platforms shaping how literature reaches us today, from
audiobooks to eReaders, from the OED Online to Wikipedia, and from
Twitter to YouTube. Digital Milton is the first say on a topic that
will become ever more important to scholars, students, and teachers
of early modern literature in the years to come.
This book is the product of a series of reflections by career
counseling and guidance specialists on a question central to
society: "How can career and life design interventions contribute
to fair and sustainable development and to the implementation of
decent work all over the world? ". This question was formulated by
Professor J. Guichard, the director of the UNESCO Chair in Lifelong
Guidance and counseling at the University of Wroclaw, Poland. The
researchers involved in this Chair's activities proposed answers
which form the chapters of this book. These reflections emphasize
the need to focus on the study and implementation of certain
central psychological processes which can enable individuals to
face the main challenges of our society. The contributions also
propose new avenues of intervention for career counseling and
guidance. The entire book is the bedrock of a program of research
and interventions to be implemented in order that the field of
career counseling and guidance plays a key role for individuals who
must design their lives in a rapidly changing, and ever more
complex context. This book is therefore a major scientific
contribution and marks a turning point for researchers and
practitioners in career counseling and guidance, and for all
professionals who support the self-construction of individuals in
the 21st century. "The authors draw on a diverse range of
disciplines and research traditions and offer readers a rich array
of insights, helping them reflect on how career guidance can be
mobilised to serve citizens in a world that is increasingly
challenged by complex, seemingly intractable problems. A central,
crosscutting concern is the ways in which career guidance can
foster well-being by facilitating access to meaningful and
fulfilling work in contexts that promote equity, social justice,
and dignity for all. While engaging the micro-worlds of
individuals, and throwing light on their valiant efforts to design
a life that realises their hopes and aspirations, it is a
commendable feature of many of these papers that they do not eschew
the societal - indeed planetary - stage across which personal
dramas are enacted." Prof. Ronald G. Sultana, Director,
Euro-Mediterranean Centre for Educational Research, University of
Malta. "The primary strengths.....are the authors' capacity to
provide forward thinking perspectives on the important issue of
sustainable lifelong interventions and career design in its
broadest sense. The volume offers depth in a way of thinking that
is pertinent to the 21st century and provokes both an in interest
in the further study of this domain as well as providing tools and
references for novice and experienced researchers and
professionals. The book is sure to become a major text in the
field." Prof. Maurice Taylor, Faculty of Education, University of
Ottawa, Canada

This book focuses on how machine learning techniques can be used to
analyze and make use of one particular category of behavioral
biometrics known as the gait biometric. A comprehensive Ground
Reaction Force (GRF)-based Gait Biometrics Recognition framework is
proposed and validated by experiments. In addition, an in-depth
analysis of existing recognition techniques that are best suited
for performing footstep GRF-based person recognition is also
proposed, as well as a comparison of feature extractors,
normalizers, and classifiers configurations that were never
directly compared with one another in any previous GRF recognition
research. Finally, a detailed theoretical overview of many existing
machine learning techniques is presented, leading to a proposal of
two novel data processing techniques developed specifically for the
purpose of gait biometric recognition using GRF. This book *
introduces novel machine-learning-based temporal normalization
techniques * bridges research gaps concerning the effect of
footwear and stepping speed on footstep GRF-based person
recognition * provides detailed discussions of key research
challenges and open research issues in gait biometrics recognition*
