The Cloud Computing and Services Science book comprises a
collection of the best papers presented at the International
Conference on Cloud Computing and Services Science (CLOSER), which
was held in The Netherlands in May 2011. In netting papers from the
conference researchers and experts from all over the world explore
a wide-ranging variety of the emerging Cloud Computing platforms,
models, applications and enabling technologies. Further, in several
papers the authors exemplify essential links to Services Science as
service development abstraction, service innovation, and service
engineering, acknowledging the service-orientation in most current
IT-driven structures in the Cloud.
The Cloud Computing and Services Science book is organized
around important dimensions of technology trends in the domain of
cloud computing in relation to a broad scientific understanding of
modern services emerging from services science. The papers of this
book are inspired by scholarly and practical work on the latest
advances related to cloud infrastructure, operations, security,
services, and management through the global network. This book
includes several features that will be helpful, interesting, and
inspirational to students, researchers as well as practitioners.

This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed proceedings of the
Second International Conference on Cloud Computing and Services
Science, CLOSER 2012, held in Porto, Portugal, in April 2012. The
15 papers were selected from 145 submissions and are presented
together with one invited paper. The papers cover the following
topics: cloud computing fundamentals, services science foundation
for cloud computing, cloud computing platforms and applications,
and cloud computing enabling technology.

Colloidal systems and dispersions are of great importance in oil
recovery, waist water treatment, coating, food and beverage
industry, pharmaceutical industry, medicine, environmental
protection etc. Colloidal systems and dispersions are always
multi-component and multiphase systems. In these systems at least
one dimension is in a range of colloidal forces action: colloidal
dispersions/emulsions are examples of three dimensional colloidal
systems, while thin liquid films are examples of one dimensional
colloidal systems. The contribution presented in this issue deals
with flow, distribution and redistribution, coating and deposition
of surfactant and polymer molecules in colloidal systems. The book
presents reviews of recent advances and trends by well-know
scientists and engineers in this area.
A book of the annual conference gives a first glance at some of the
most important fields of the modern science.
Now for the first time, one comprehensive book summarizes and analyzes the numerous scientific papers and reviews covering selected aspects of the structure, biological activities, and clinical effects of immune interferon, also known as interferon-gamma(IFN-gamma). Immune Interferon: Properties and Clinical Applications is essential reading for anyone working with interferons.
Having developed their own brand of interferon-gamma, the authors have become well known for their research and significant contributions in the fields of molecular biology, biochemistry, and interferon-gamma. They bring together the extensive findings from years of research since the discovery of the drug. Focusing on the drug itself and not particular brands, the book presents data on the properties of interferon-gamma, experimental data on its effects in cell cultures in vitro and on animals in vivo, the role that IFN-gamma plays in different diseases, and the results of its clinical applications.
As interest in this versatile drug continues to grow, new avenues for its clinical use will continue to arise. Within a single source, Immune Interferon: Properties and Clinical Applications provides you with thorough information on all facets of interferon-gamma, from biological properties, to pharmaceutical processing, to clinical application.
This comprehensive reference provided a systematic examination of
both the theory and applications of thin liquid films - giving a
critical review of major concepts and unresolved or controversial
problems, as well as revealing experimental methods. It includes
results previously unpublished. Combining the work of 20 leading
researchers, Thin Liquid Films furnishes a fundamental overview of
thermodynamics of thin liquid films. Generously illustrated with
equations, tables and drawling and containing more than 2,200
citations to pertinent literature, this is an authoritative
reference for physical, surface, and colloid chemists,
biophysicists and physicists; chemical engineers and advanced
graduate students in chemistry, chemical engineering, biophysics
and physics.
