What are the Elements? The answer would differ from person to person, that is unless you were in the magical realm of the Cascade Region. A small world of it's own where anything seems possible and myth takes form. In the Cascades, the elements Dark, Earth, Fire, Light, Water and Wind is each a powerful spirit that takes the form and being of a human with total control of their element. Every generation, said elemental spirits are reincarnated into a new body, unrelated to the host before. The six Casters live amongst the people of the land, mastering their incredible magic and assisting those who need it. All was well in the valiant region, but then something went wrong. In the last century, war broke out. The Casters, forced onto opposing sides of the battle and their normally helpful powers used for destruction and selfishness. After years of pointless struggles, the Casters decided to end their own reign of battle and simply vanished. Now, a new century has dawned and though it is not completely clear to them, the Casters have been chosen. The spirits rests within their newest host, waiting until the day the chosen ones learn to harness their magnificent powers. Sides have been made and lines drawn as a new battle begins and a new threat launches the first strike. El objetivo fundamental del trabajo que se presenta consiste en establecer las caracteristicas de diversos tipos de rejillas de difraccion, a traves del estudio de el espectro de difraccion que generan y de los patrones de Ronchi caracteristicos de cada uno de ellas. El modelado teorico de las rejillas se lleva acabo aplicando dos enfoques comparativos: uno que considera componentes espaciales para generar el perfil de las rejillas y otro que genera el perfil con componentes frecuenciales. Los resultados obtenidos a traves del modelado teorico se llevaran a la practica mediante la construccion de las rejillas simuladas, impresas sobre acetato corriente desde una impresora laser. La caracterizacion de las rejillas mediante el modelado teorico de las rejillas y de los patrones de Ronchi junto con la validacion experimental es el objetivo mas importante de este trabajo, quedando como objetivo secundario pero no menos importante algunas aplicaciones de las rejillas construidas."

El estudio que se presenta esta basado en tecnicas interferometricas de corrimiento de fase, analizando las ventajas de usar un interferometro de doble ventana con rejilla de fase y modulacion en polarizacion para estudio de objetos de fase delgada, que esten estaticos y en movimiento, esto ultimo se logra obteniendo los corrimientos de fase necesarios en una sola toma. En primera instancia se analizan las caracteristicas de difraccion de las rejillas de fase y los efectos que generan en los patrones de interferencia en un interferometro de doble ventana. Los corrimientos de fase necesarios se generan operando polarizadores lineales sobre cada patron de interferencia generado en el plano imagen del sistema.Cabe senalar que se hicieron los analisis necesarios para poder usar placas retardadoras no disenadas para operar a la longitud de onda del laser usado. La adicion de la rejilla de fase y de usar luz polarizada circularmente, nos permitio disenar un sistema dinamico y flexible de corrimiento de fase y que ademas es un sistema estable mecanicamente."
