Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not
used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad
quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are

keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the
original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain
imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made

In this timely book, Evan Douglas examines the limitations of the
current models of entrepreneurial motivation. He proposes an
expanded general model of entrepreneurial intention, which
integrates both commercial and social entrepreneurs, and explicitly
examines the motivation to innovate. In this new, integrated model
of entrepreneurial intention, he explores the asymmetric data
relationships and interdependencies of these four motivations that
operate to result in multiple equally-valid pathways to
entrepreneurial action. To discover the alternative configurations
that culminate in entrepreneurial intention, Douglas advocates
fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis, which complements
traditional correlational methods and exposes additional
information about individual motivation that is suppressed in
sample-level correlational analysis. Innovative and insightful,
this book is an excellent primer for higher-degree and academic
researchers interested in what drives entrepreneurial actions.
Public sector researchers developing entrepreneurial
infrastructure, incubators and support services will also benefit
from Douglas's exciting new model.

This study examines the major works of contemporary American
television and film screenwriter, Joss Whedon. The authors argue
that these works are part of an existentialist tradition that
stretches back from the French atheistic existentialist Jean-Paul
Sartre, through the Danish Christian existentialist, Soren
Kierkegaard, to the Russian novelist and existentialist, Fyodor
Dostoevsky. Whedon and Dostoevsky, for example, seem preoccupied
with the problem of evil and human freedom. Both argue that in each
and every one of us ""a demon lies hidden."" Whedon personifies
these demons and has them wandering about and causing havoc.
Dostoevsky treats the subject only slightly more seriously.
Chapters cover such topics as Russian existentialism and vampire
slayage; moral choices; ethics; faith and bad faith; constructing
reality through existential choice; some limitations of science and
technology; love and self-sacrifice; love, witchcraft, and
vengeance; soul mates and moral responsibility; love and moral
choice; forms of freedom; and Whedon as moral philosopher.
This integrated study of the emerging interdisciplinary field of
environmental aesthetics takes the reader through a brief history
of both aesthetics and taste, then discusses the psychology of
human-environment relations, the influences of literary, artistic
and legal activism on city, countryside and wilderness, and
concludes with an analysis of the roles of public policy and of
planning. Clearly written and illustrated, the book brings together
the ideas, method and practices of a range of academic and
professional disciplines. The book should be a useful introduction
to those interested in how the experience of city (and country)
life can and should be improved.
A dramatic and compelling true-crime psychological thriller
This incredible story shows how John Douglas tracked and
participated in the hunt for one of the most notorious serial
killers in U.S. history. For 31 years a man who called himself BTK
(Bind, Torture, Kill) terrorized the city of Wichita, Kansas,
sexually assaulting and strangling a series of women, taunting the
police with frequent communications, and bragging about his crimes
to local newspapers and TV stations. After disappearing for nine
years, he suddenly reappeared, complaining that no one was paying
enough attention to him and claiming that he had committed other
crimes for which he had not been given credit. When he was
ultimately captured, BTK was shockingly revealed to be Dennis
Rader, a 61-year-old married man with two children.
Attracting Equity Investors is designed to help entrepreneurs
successfully obtain equity capital. This book discusses how to
evaluate a business concept from an investor's perspective and then
moves to practical issues such as how to strategically position,
prepare, and present the business plan. It recognizes that there is
very real competition for the funds that are available. To obtain
funding, the entrepreneur must stand out among the competitors. He
or she must tell a compelling story in a very convincing manner and
be able to answer confidently all questions posed by the potential
investor. But more than simply obtaining the funding, the
entrepreneur's objective should be to obtain the funding on the
best terms possible. Therefore, this book is about organizing your
business, writing and presenting a winning business plan, and
showing that the management team is the right group of people to be
taking that business opportunity forward toward fruition.
Attracting Equity Investors is the definitive "getting equity
capital" book. Attracting Equity Investors is appropriate for
college-level courses in entrepreneurship, business plan writing,
new venture funding, strategic management, organizational studies,
marketing, economics, and technology management. It will also serve
as an excellent resource for entrepreneurs who are actively seeking
funding and need to know how to go about it, effectively and
economically.
This book considers the hundred years of re-writes of Anton
Chekhov's work, presenting a wide geographical landscape of
Chekhovian influences in drama. The volume examines the elusive
quality of Chekhov's dramatic universe as an intricate mechanism,
an engine in which his enigmatic characters exist as the dramatic
and psychological ciphers we have been de-coding for a century, and
continue to do so. Examining the practice and the theory of
dramatic adaptation both as intermedial transformation (from page
to stage) and as intramedial mutation, from page to page, the book
presents adaptation as the emerging genre of drama, theatre, and
film. This trend marks the performative and social practices of the
new millennium, highlighting our epoch's need to engage with the
history of dramatic forms and their evolution. The collection
demonstrates that adaptation as the practice of transformation and
as a re-thinking of habitual dramatic norms and genre definitions
leads to the rejuvenation of existing dramatic and performative
standards, pioneering the creation of new traditions and
expectations. As the major mode of the storytelling imagination,
adaptation can build upon and drive the audience's horizons of
expectations in theatre aesthetics. Hence, this volume investigates
the original and transformative knowledge that the story of
Chekhov's drama in mutations offers to scholars of drama and
performance, to students of modern literatures and cultures, and to
theatre practitioners worldwide.
Managing the Entrepreneurial University is essential reading for
both higher education administrators and those studying to enter
the field. As universities have become more market focused, they
have changed dramatically. But has the law kept up? This book
explains fundamental legal concepts in clear, non-technical
language and grounds them in practical management situations,
indicating where doctrines and standards have evolved, identifying
where legal difficulties may be more likely to arise, and
suggesting where change may be merited. In its chapters on process,
discrimination, employment, students, and regulation, the book:
Provides lively case studies applicable to every type of
institution Includes a simulation exercise at the end of each
chapter for use in teaching or training Draws on an over 550-source
bibliography A hypothetical case spans each chapter, addressing not
only research universities and elite liberal arts colleges, but
also community colleges, small private colleges, and regional
comprehensive universities. Readers working across functional areas
and at various institution types will find the book directly
relevant in clarifying and deepening their understanding of the
legal environment associated with their responsibilities within the
entrepreneurial university.
