Originally published during the early part of the twentieth century, the Cambridge County Geographies were designed to provide a series of concise guides to British regions. Aimed at the general reader, they combined a comprehensive approach to various aspects of physical and human geography with an emphasis on clarity. This guide to Orkney and Shetland by J. G. F. Moodie Heddle and T. Mainland was first published in 1920. The text is interspersed with numerous illustrative figures and also contains a list of the chief towns and villages within the area.
Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive. We are republishing these classic works in affordable, high quality, modern editions, using the original text and artwork.
