Magi is the story of a man who believes that he understands the
world he lives in and rejects ideas about "Alien Conspiracies," and
sets out to prove his own assumption that cattle mutilations in the
Colorado Rockies are the actions of a secret government program
that is testing biological agents for the development of weapons.
His life converges with other people who are firmly entrenched in
the world of alien/human interaction and his world view is changed
forever as he comes face to face with this new reality that he
stumbles upon. The complexity of the problem he discovers is that
layers of covert groups are designed to watchdog each other and
take necessary actions in order to maintain stability in a world
that must be kept secret at all costs. Once he loses the simplicity
of what he thought was once the world, he becomes caught between
choices. Yet there are deeper insidious problems plaguing the world
and these people in these various groups. It isn't clear about who
controls what, what the aliens want or even who they are. Why have
they not annihilated us and why do they not help us? These ideas
and more keep the players firmly locked in a Leontius' Eyes
syndrome, unable to tear their selves away and choose how to accept
what is so blatantly obvious to the senses and the mind. Out of a
central incident arises a clarity of a different kind; that all
have been drawn together at this moment to work in concert to
support the stasis of this secret existence. The question remains
as to whether it has all been a mass manipulation at the whim of a
single entity, or if this has been necessary for the continued
existence of mankind in general.
Soil formation is related to the nature of landforms on which that
formation takes place. The nature of the soil affects some of the
processes shaping the landforms and which cause landscape change.
An accurate assessment of the evolution of landforms and of the
patterns of soil formation is possible only if the interdependence
of soils and landforms is recognized. This book provides an
integration of geomorphology and pedology to fully assess this
relationship. After an opening chapter outlining the approach
adopted, specific chapters examine the relationships between soil
formation and specific suites of landform assemblages. The highly
influential catena concept is followed by an analysis of soil
within drainage basins, on erosion surfaces, flood plains, river
terraces, coastal plains, glacial and fluvioglacial landforms,
deserts and periglacial landforms. The concluding chapter addresses
the way in which soils can be used to assess major phases in
landscape evolution. Undergraduate students and lecturers in
geography or soil sciences will find this a valuable
interdisciplinary introduction to soil geomorphology.
The concept of rationality is the heart of modern economics.
Neo-classical theory seems unable to proceed without assuming a
rational agent seeking to find the optimal means to a well defined
end. Yet many find this uncritical treatment of rationality
problematic. It takes little account of culture history or
creativity and consequently many economists find this insistence on
rationality of little use when trying to explain a wide range of
economic phenomena. Increasingly these include a large number of
game theorists and others involved in mainstream theory as well as
those typically opposed to neo-classicism. The Economics of
Rationality contains a number of critical perspectives on the
treatment of rationality in economics.

areas as game theory, experimental economics, psychology,
post-Keynesian and institutional economics cast considerable doubt
on whether a single notion of rationality within economics is
either possible or desirable.
St. Alphonsus writes: "a single bad book will be sufficient to
cause the destruction of a monastery." Pope Pius XII wrote in 1947
at the beatification of Blessed Maria Goretti: "There rises to Our
lips the cry of the Saviour: 'Woe to the world because of scandals
' (Matthew 18:7). Woe to those who consciously and deliberately
spread corruption-in novels, newspapers, magazines, theaters,
films, in a world of immodesty " We at St. Pius X Press are calling
for a crusade of good books. We want to restore 1,000 old Catholic
