Das vorliegende Buch uber den Elektrounfall behandelt ein Tatsa- chengebiet, das seit etwa drei Jahrzehnten im westdeutschen Schrift- tum nicht mehr monografisch dargestellt wurde. Zwar ist der Elek- trounfall mit Wdlichem Ausgang zum Gluck kein allzu haufiges Ereignis. Er bedroht uns aber in Heim und Betrieb dafUr aufSchritt und Tritt, und wenn es einmal zu einem Unfall kommt, ist die Wahrscheinlichkeit, da13 er Wdlich verlauft, rund zehnmal hoher als bei anderen Unfallformen. Der elektrische Strom ist also in beson- derem Ma13e gefahrlich, er ist zudem unsichtbar. Der Schutz vor ElektrounHillen mu13 also eine besonders ausgebildete Form von Schutz sein. Dies und natiirlich die immer noch zunehmende An- wendung des elektrischen Stromes in Industrie und Privatbereich lassen den Elektrounfall als ein in vieler Hinsicht besonderes Pro- blem erscheinen. Die Autoren dieses Buches haben sich bemuht, diese Besonder- heiten darzustellen. Die Problematik la13t sich der Sache nach leicht in folgende Teilfragen gliedern: die technischen Fragen der Anwen- dung von elektrischem Strom und daraus flie13ende Gefahren, die biologischen Probleme so1cher Gefahren, die arztlichen Spezialfra- gen (Therapie, Begutachtung) und die Fragen des Unfallschutzes. Das Buch wendet sich also, wie man sieht, an einen breiten Kreis von lnteressenten: an die in der Unfallverhutung Tatigen, aber auch an aIle Betriebsangehorige, we1che besondere Verantwortung bei der technischen Anwendung von Elektrizitat tragen; an Ante, ins- besondere natiirlich Betriebsarzte, an das sanitare Hilfspersonal, doch auch an jeden interessierten Laien. Es wurde darauf geachtet, da13 der Text (mit einigen unvermeidlichen Ausnahmen) auch fUr den medizinischen Laien verstandlich blieb.
