In the late 1980s, a brand new Doctor Fate was introduced to the DC Universe! Legendary writer JM DeMatteis pens a magical epic about chaos, order, and family.
Kent Nelson, the first Doctor Fate, has died, and not one but two people have stepped in to take his place! Chosen by the Lords of Order come Eric and Linda Strauss, who find themselves able to combine into a singular mystical force – the new Doctor Fate!
Guided by the Lord of Order, Nabu, Eric and Linda face their own sets of complicated challenges, both mystical and otherwise, as they navigate the strange new circumstances in which they’ve found themselves in this series by legendary writer JM DeMatteis and Keith Giffen.
What if one of the darkest hours in Batman's crime-fighting career
never happened?
In 1988, the pop culture world was rocked when comics readers were
given the opportunity todecide the outcome of one of the medium's most
controversial quandaries: Should the Boy Wonder die? While history has
taught us one answer to that question, a second answer is now
told--What if Robin lived?
Jason Todd, the second teenager to wear the mask of Robin, survived a
brutal beating at the hands of maniacal Joker, but his wounds run
deeper than flesh. The already volatile Jason is haunted by what
happened to him and is unwilling to confront his demons, so Bruce Wayne
brings in a psychiatrist to talk to him. Can Jason recover from his
ordeal? Is the Batman ultimately to blame? And then there is the
question on everyone's mind: who killed the Joker?
Writer J.M. DeMatteis (Justice League International) and artist Rick
Leonardi (Nightwing) spin the story of what would have happened if the
fans had chosen differently. From the DC Vault: Death in the Family:
Robin Lives! collects the entire four-issue miniseries along with
Batman #426, #427, and #429 and the faux-simile issue Batman #428:
Robin Lives! that lead up to this momentous elseworld.
A new generation of the world s greatest super-heroes takes center
stage in the wake of a world crisis, but it s the most unlikely
grouping of heroes ever - Batman, Black Canary, Blue Bettle,
Captain Marvel, Doctor Fate, Dr. Light, Guy Gardner, Martian
Manhunter, and Mister Miracle. Known for its comedic tones and
quirky cast, this chapter from 1987-1996 in League history is
unforgettable!
Known as America's first fully painted graphic novel, the poetic,
philosophical, and Kirby & Eisner Award-nominated Moonshadow
receives a new softcover treatment. Enhanced with a new painted cover
by Jon J Muth and an expanded bonus section featuring concept art,
early notes from the creative team, and script pages from writer J.M.
DeMatteis, this influential, timeless 'fairy tale for adults' also

Kevin Nowlan, and others!
For more than 60 years, Captain America served as an iconic figure
in popular culture, and one of Marvel Comics' flagship characters.
He represented everything good and positive about the classic
American ideal - truth, strength, liberty, and an unflappable
belief that justice would always prevail. When his alter ego, Steve
Rogers, was assassinated by a sniper outside a federal courthouse,
his death rocked the comic world and left fans and critics with
numerous questions about his life and how it ended. Did he die a
political casualty of the Global War on Terrorism, or was it just
another Marvel marketing ploy? Had he become an anachronism in
tights, or was he still a self-conscious, larger than life figure
who tried to bear the full existential weight of what American
military power had become? And how is his death in the Civil War
series to be reconciled with his second death, in Morrell and
Breitweiser's series ""The Chosen?"" This book brings such
speculations into sharper focus, compiling critical essays by a
wide range of authors, including art and literary scholars,
professors and graduate students, historians, and ""Captain
America"" writers. The range of topics discussed include the ways
in which Nazi Germany was represented in ""Captain America Comics""
from the 1940s to his resurrection in the 1960s; the creation of
""Captain America"" in light of the Jewish American experience; the
relationship between Captain America and Captain Britain, who was
featured in a few rare UK Marvel comics; the groundbreaking
partnership between Captain America and one of the first mainstream
African American superheroes, The Falcon; and, the various
successful and unsuccessful attempts that were made to kill Captain
America before his 'real' death.
Writer J. M. DeMatteis and artist Mike Zeck craft the ultimate tale
of revenge in this groundbreaking and legendary collection! Kraven
the Hunter has stalked and killed every animal known to man. But
there is one beast that has eluded him. One quarry that has mocked
him at every turn: the wall-crawling web-slinger known as
Spider-Man. And to prove that he is the hero's master, he will pull
on his costume and become him...after he shoots and buries him six
feet under! Collecting "Web of Spider-Man" #31-32, "Amazing
Spider-Man" #293-294, and "Spectacular Spider-Man" #131-132.
