The book presents high-quality papers presented at 3rd
International Conference on Applications of Fluid Dynamics (ICAFD
2016) organized by Department of Applied Mathematics, ISM Dhanbad,
Jharkhand, India in association with Fluid Mechanics Group,
University of Botswana, Botswana. The main theme of the Conference
is "Sustainable Development in Africa and Asia in context of Fluid
Dynamics and Modeling Approaches". The book is divided into seven
sections covering all applications of fluid dynamics and their
allied areas such as fluid dynamics, nanofluid, heat and mass
transfer, numerical simulations and investigations of fluid
dynamics, magnetohydrodynamics flow, solute transport modeling and
water jet, and miscellaneous. The book is a good reference material
for scientists and professionals working in the field of fluid
dynamics.
This book comprises selected peer-reviewed proceedings of the
International Conference on Applications of Fluid Dynamics (ICAFD
2018) organized by the School of Advanced Sciences, Vellore
Institute of Technology, India, in association with the University
of Botswana and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics
(SIAM), USA. With an aim to identify the existing challenges in the
area of applied mathematics and mechanics, the book emphasizes the
importance of establishing new methods and algorithms to address
these challenges. The topics covered include diverse applications
of fluid dynamics in aerospace dynamics and propulsion, atmospheric
sciences, compressible flow, environmental fluid dynamics, control
structures, viscoelasticity and mechanics of composites. Given the
contents, the book is a useful resource for students, researchers
as well as practitioners.
Ideal for college students in intermediate finance courses, this
book uniquely applies mathematical formulas to teach the
underpinnings of financial and lending decisions, covering common
applications in real estate, capital budgeting, and commercial
loans. An updated and expanded version of the time-honored classic
text on financial math, this book provides, in one place, a
complete and practical treatment of the four primary venues for
finance: commercial lending, financial formulas, mortgage lending,
and resource allocation or capital budgeting techniques. With an
emphasis on understanding the principles involved rather than blind
reliance on formulas, the book provides rigorous and thorough
explanations of the mathematical calculations used in determining
the time value of money, valuation of loans by commercial banks,
valuation of mortgages, and the cost of capital and capital
budgeting techniques for single as well as mutually exclusive
projects. This new edition devotes an entire chapter to a method of
evaluating mutually exclusive projects without resorting to any
imposed conditions. Two chapters not found in the previous edition
address special topics in finance, including a novel and innovative
way to approach amortization tables and the time value of money for
cash flows when they increase geometrically or arithmetically. This
new edition also features helpful how-to sections on Excel
applications at the end of each appropriate chapter. Lays the
foundation of all the topics that are typically covered in a
financial management textbook or class Demonstrates how the mastery
of a few basic concepts-such as the time value of money under all
possible situations-allows for a precise understanding of more
complex topics in finance Describes how all advanced capital
budgeting techniques can be reduced to the simplest technique-the
payback period method Examines traditional financial techniques
using simple interest rate and accounting rate of return methods to
conclusively show how these practices are now defunct
Hardbound. The market model, introduced over thirty years ago, is
one of the most studied and utilized return generating models in
finance. Over three decades it has withstood rigorous testing and,
with refinements over the years, remains the standard of reference
today, being applied to almost all existing global investment
opportunities. The resulting literature is prolific, and the aim of
this book is to consolidate the most important literature on the
market model, focusing especially on recent research involving
issues related to the model. The market model is analysed in detail
and its characteristics discussed, criticisms presented and
possible shortcomings tested. The book also presents a guide to the
various applications of the model, as well as a discussion of other
types of model, their forecasting power and their relationship with
the market model.

In November 1990 Indo-American Hybrid Seeds (IAHS), one of the
largest and very innovative horticultural enterprises of its kind
in India, celebrated its silver jubilee year in the town of
Bangalore, India. On the occasion of this silver jubilee of IAHS an
International Seminar on 'New Frontiers in Horticulture' was
organized from 25-28th of November 1990 at the Ashok Radisson Hotel
in Bangalore. IAHS was almost fully responsible in terms of
organization and financially for this International Seminar.
Assisted by an International Scientific Advisory Board, the
organizing committee, all members of the company IAHS, really did a
great job. I would like to thank in particular Mr. Mammohan Attavar
(the company's founder) and Mr. Sri N.K. Bhat (partner of the
company), respectively chairman and treasurer of the organizing
committee, for their organizational and financial support in
organizing this conference. Very special words of thanks go to my
colleague editor, Dr. Jitendra Prakash, Secretary Organizing
committee and Director of Biotechnology - IAHS, who was really the
spill in the whole organization of our very successful conference.
