As the 21st Century dawns, a career as a British Government's
deeply covert MI-4 field agent would test the bravest and most
resilient. Philippa Ploughman is swept into counter-terrorism
normally thought of as a male dominated preserve. Annually,
billions of dollars are generated by illegal drugs, in America and
the Middle East. The United States and Canada are vulnerable to
narcotics flooding from South America while an estimated 85% of all
Afghanistan poppy narcotics arrive overland in Europe. Is there a
thread of international money laundering between the two in a
global weapons trade? Into this world is thrust an amiable,
vulnerable, unlikely form capable of switching from femininity to
vigorous self defence in the blink of an eye or the flash of
weapon's test. The lady has been launched to find the truth. And now
that the UN Security Council's deadline for Iran to halt its work
on nuclear fuel enrichment has been ignored, things are set to
become more challenging...
Makepiece Ploughman is of the ninth generation on original
warranted land in Maryland granted to the 17th Century immigrant
Ploughman family. In 1943, he is a colonel in the US Army Air
Corps, working an intelligence desk assigned to understand Hitler's
advanced weapons programme. Under Presidential decree, he is given
command of a reconnaissance aircraft group to operate from an
airfield in Kent, England, which is subject to unremitting enemy
threat. Where once stood the family residential hall, there now
stands an Anglo-American facility which contains Colonel
Ploughman's top secret buried headquarters. On one of his
infrequent days of relaxation, Makepiece seeks out family history
records in the country archives only to discover that he is not the
only researcher with an interest in a folio of 350 year old papers
written by his eleven greats grandmother. The folder in the
Maidstone archive contains a transcription of 1659 original land
warrant, And war has taken the colonel a long way from the comforts
of home...This is the fifth novel in the Warranted Land Saga.
The 19th century independent United States of America has its own
strengths. But have the relationships with England really settled
down. While Benjamin Ploughman's loyalty to the English Crown takes
him from Maryland to the East Indies, the Royal Navy suffers its
gravest mutiny and his family continues to forges its heritage
within a new world beset with major changes. Fifth generation
immigrant Ada looks on as President Madison declares war on England
and she is fortunate to survive the consequences. An invitation
from England to become the chatelaine of the ancient Hall at
Snodland, Kent where the Ploughman heritage began, may not be all
it seems - This is the fourth novel in the Warranted Land saga.
