Suburbia in the 1950s, a dark side emerging in the Chandler house
for teenage Meg and her crippled little sister Susan--captive to an
Aunt, who is rapidly descending into madness. ""The Girl Next Door"
is alive . . . in a way most works of popular fiction never attain;
it does not just promise terror but actually delivers it. But it's
a page-turner, all right; no doubt about that."--Stephen King
"Who's the scariest guy in America? Probably Jack Ketchum, the
outlaw horror writer whose terrifying first novel is finally
available uncut from Overlook Connection Press. -- Stephen King,
Entertainment Weekly, Nov. 19, 2004. When Off Season, a novel of
horror and cannibalism in modern day Maine, was first released in
1980, it took readers by storm and sold over 250,000 copies
However, the original edition was edited and content was removed
from the story at the publisher's request. The whole effect of the
book was deemed to intense, in particular the ending--which is
completely restored in this edition. The Overlook Connection Press
has released this edition in it's original unexpurgated state for
the first time anywhere. The author's original vision can now be
read. This book has not been available in the US for almost two
decades in any edition. We have a special introduction by Douglas
E. Winter, who has championed this novel for years. Also an
Afterword by the author Jack Ketchum. Look for the sequel,
"Offspring" also from Overlook Connection Press.

This edition of Jack Ketchum's "Broken On The Wheel of Sex: The
Jerzy Livingston Years" is the most complete edition of the
"Stroup" stories ever collected together. New introduction by Jack
Ketchum: "The Goblin On The Dance Floor." These stories, written
from 1976 to 1981, and appearing in various men's magazines and
other outlets, offer Ketchum readers a look into this author's
formulative years. This is where Jack Ketchum honed his writing
craft that has become so well known with his novels The Girl Next
Door, The Crossing, Off Season and The Lost. Collected here is his
character simply known as the "Stroup" stories written under the
pseudonym Jerzy Livingston, which are rare and difficult to locate
almost thirty years after the original publications gave them life.
"I've called these the Jerzy Livingston years because over half of
them were written under that name and the rest under my real one.
Somehow Jerzy seems more appropriate for this collection. My
adoption of that particular pseudonym was both a joke - a play on
words -and a nod to a very good writer, which I hoped some day to
be." - Jack Ketchum, from the author's introduction. Also includes
Afterwords for each story by the author.

September. A beautiful New York editor retreats to a lonely
cabin on a hill in the quiet Maine beach town of Dead River--off
season--awaiting her sister and friends. Nearby, a savage human
family with a taste for flesh lurks in the darkening woods,
watching, waiting for the moon to rise and night to fall...
And before too many hours pass, five civilized, sophisticated
people and one tired old country sheriff will learn just how
primitive we all are beneath the surface...and that there are no
limits at all to the will to survive.

What starts like a haunted house novel as written by the Marquis
de Sade develops into a meta-deconstruction of hardcore horror and
why we love sex and violence.
There is something seriously wrong with the house at Sixty-Five
Stirrup Iron Road. Its history is awash with sadistic violence and
fiendish sex. For generations the house has corrupted its
inhabitants. Now Arrianne and Chuck have moved in, and the house is
ready to hunt once more. But this time the house's occupants won't
be the only targets. No one is safe-not the reader, not the
authors, and not the horror genre itself...
Nine of the biggest names in horror fiction collaborate on a
gore-and-sex-soaked novel with all proceeds benefiting modern
master of crime and terror, Tom Piccirilli.

Thriller in which a successful lawyer attempts to civilise the last
remaining woman from a wild rural clan. Chris Cleek (Sean Bridgers)
is a well-off country lawyer, married and with a young family. One
day, in the woods near his home, Chris comes across a feral woman
(Pollyanna McIntosh) bathing. With a love for order, the family man
decides to bring her home with him and 'civilise' her. The woman is
so wild he is at first forced to chain her in the basement. He
introduces the woman to his wife, Belle (Angela Bettis), and his
children, Peggy (Lauren Ashley Carter) and Brian (Zach Rand), and
encourages them to interact with her to help bring out her human
side. Will his experiment in 'civilisation' succeed, or will the
woman threaten the civilised existence of the family?
