Collection of four action adventures featuring the DC Comics superhero. In 'Batman' (1989) the streets of Gotham City are no longer safe for criminals, who are being picked off by a masked vigilante in a rubber suit - dubbed 'Batman' by the press. Reporter Alexander Knox (Robert Wuhl) teams with photographer Vicki Vale (Kim Basinger) in an attempt to discover Batman's true identity - an investigation which leads them to the door of mysterious millionaire Bruce Wayne (Michael Keaton).

Meanwhile, crime boss Carl Grissom (Jack Palance)'s attempt to rid himself of untrustworthy henchman Jack Napier (Jack Nicholson) does not go according to plan, and after emerging physically and mentally disfigured from a vat of chemicals, Napier reinvents himself as the psychotic Joker. In 'Batman Returns' (1992), 33 years after being abandoned as a baby, Oswald Cobblepot (Danny DeVito) returns to Gotham City, bent on revenge, as the Penguin. He begins a warped campaign to become mayor of Gotham, helped by millionaire businessman Max Shreck (Christopher Walken) and undertakes a mission to murder every firstborn son in the city - a plan which will avenge his own beginnings.

Meanwhile, Batman (Keaton) emerges to stop him, but struggles with his dual identity after becoming romantically involved with Shreck's former secretary Selina Kyle (Michelle Pfeiffer), who takes up her own secret identity as Catwoman to get revenge on Shreck. In 'Batman Forever' (1995) former District Attorney Harvey 'Two-Face' Dent (Tommy Lee Jones) is terrorising Gotham City when a new villain appears on the scene - The Riddler (Jim Carrey). Together they plot to take over Gotham and discover Batman (Val Kilmer)'s identity, using a device which can probe the human mind.

Meanwhile, the caped crusader is joined in his fight by new sidekick Robin (Chris O'Donnell), whose trapeze-artist family have recently been slain by Two-Face. Finally, in 'Batman and Robin' (1997) Batman (George Clooney) and Robin (O'Donnell) have to stop the vengeful Mr Freeze (Arnold Schwarzenegger) from taking over Gotham City. To make matters worse, the venomous Poison Ivy (Uma Thurman) decides to join forces with Freeze.

Luckily for the caped crusader and his rebellious ward, they team up with new partner Batgirl (Alicia Silverstone).

Milos Forman's acclaimed adaptation of the Ken Kesey novel. After being imprisoned for statutory rape, an unrepentant Randle Patrick McMurphy (Jack Nicholson) is transferred to a state mental hospital. Here he sets about leading his fellow inmates (including Brad Dourif, Danny DeVito and Christopher Lloyd) in a revolt against the cold and inflexible Nurse Ratchet (Louise Fletcher) and the hospital's systematic oppression of its patients. The film won five Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Actor for Nicholson, Best Actress for Louise Fletcher, Best Director for Milos Forman, and Best Adapted Screenplay for Lawrence Hauben.

Corporate billionaire Edward Cole (Jack Nicholson) and working class mechanic Carter Chambers (Morgan Freeman) are worlds apart. At a crossroads in their lives, they share a hospital room and discover they have two things in common: a desire to spend the time they have left doing everything they ever wanted to do before they "kick the bucket" and an unrealized need to come to terms with who they are.

Together they embark on the road trip of a lifetime, becoming friends along the way and learning to live life to the fullest, with insight and humor.

Each adventure adds another check to their list.

Rookie cop Billy Costigan grew up in crime. That makes him the perfect mole, the man on the inside of the mob run by boss Frank Costello. It's his job to win Costello's trust and help his detective handlers bring Costello down.

Meanwhile, detective Colin Sullivan has everyone's trust. No one suspects he's Costello's mole within the police department.

How these covert lives cross and collide is at the ferocious core of the Academy Award-winning The Departed. Martin Scorsese directs, guiding a cast for the ages in a visceral tale of crime and consequences. This is searing, can't-look-away filmmaking: like looking into the eyes of a con - or a cop - with a gun.

Multiple Academy Award-winner for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Editing and Best Adapted Screenplay.

One of the seminal American films of the 1970s, Roman Polanski's detective yarn sees murder and scandal emerge from the drought of 1930s Southern California. Private eye Jake Gittes (Jack Nicholson) is hired to follow water commissioner Hollis Mulwray (Darrell Zwerling), only to see him turn up dead at the bottom of a reservoir. Realising he has been used, Gittes confronts Mulwray's widow, Evelyn (Faye Dunaway), a woman who seems to have plenty of secrets of her own, not least her ambiguous relationship with her father, Noah Cross (John Huston).

Bikers Captain America (Peter Fonda) and Billy (Dennis Hopper, who also directs) set off across America on the proceeds of a cocaine deal. En route to the New Orleans Mardi Gras festival they stop off at a hippy commune, before being arrested in Texas for joining a street parade without a licence. In jail they meet boozy civil rights lawyer George Hanson (Jack Nicholson), who decides to join them on their odyssey. Made on a shoestring budget, 'Easy Rider' was a huge hit upon its release, and this success proved instrumental in persuading the big Hollywood studios to invest in more films from young directors.

Three classic films from acclaimed director, Roman Polanski. In 'Rosemary's Baby' (1968), Mia Farrow stars as Rosemary, a young wife whose husband (John Cassavetes), an actor, falls in with a group of Satanists. When Rosemary becomes pregnant, she begins to suspect that she may be carrying the child of the Devil. In 'The Tenant' (1976), when Trelkovsky (Polanski) rents a decrepit, barren flat he discovers that the flat's previous occupant, a young girl, had leaped to her death from its window. Intrigued, he begins to obsess about the girl and convinces himself that the other tenants of the building are trying to drive him to self-murder as well. But has Trelkovsky really only inherited the girl's suicidal urges? Finally, in 'Chinatown' (1974), private eye Jake Gittes (Jack Nicholson) is hired to follow water commissioner Hollis Mulwray (Darrell Zwerling), only to see him turn up dead at the bottom of a reservoir. Realising he has been used, Gittes confronts Mulwray's widow Evelyn (Faye Dunway), a woman who seems to have plenty of secrets of her own, not least her ambiguous relationship with her father Noah Cross (John Huston).

Harry Sanborn is a perennial playboy with a libido much younger than his years. During what was to have been a romantic weekend with his latest infatuation, Marin, at her mother's Hamptons beach house, Harry develops chest pains. He winds up being nursed by Marin's reluctant mother, Erica Barry - a successful, divorced New York playwright.

In the process, Harry develops more heart pangs - the romantic kind - for Erica, an age appropriate woman whom he finds beguiling. However, some habits die hard. When Harry hesitates, his charming thirty-something doctor steps in and starts to pursue Erica. And Harry, who has always had the world on a string, finds his life unravelling.

A sophisticated romantic comedy which proves that in matters of the heart, you can expect the unexpected.

In a legendary performance, three-time Academy Award winner Jack Nicholson stars as private eye Jake Gittes.

Hired by a mysterious woman to investigate Hollis Mulwray, the chief engineer of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Gittes' sleuthing brings him into contact with Mulwray's wife (Academy Award winner Faye Dunaway), a stunning socialite with secrets of her own.

As a determined Gittes delves deeper, he soon realises that even the City of Angels has a dark side.

Director Roman Polanski's Chinatown has evolved from an atmospheric film noir mystery into a modern-day classic, with Robert Towne's Academy Award-winning script unforgettably and brilliantly capturing a lost era of deceit, corruption and treachery.

A nice rest in a state mental hospital beats a stretch in the pen, right? Randle P. McMurphy, a free-spirited con with lightning in his veins and glib on his tongue, fakes insanity and moves in with what he calls the "nuts."

Immediately, his contagious sense of disorder runs up against numbing routine. No way should guys pickled on sedatives shuffle around in bathrobes when the World Series is on. This means war!

On one side is McMurphy. On the other is soft-spoken Nurse Ratchet, among the most coldly monstrous villains in film history.

At stake is the fate of every patient on the ward.
