Iwo Jima: arguably the most violent battle of the Second World War. On February 19th, 1945, U.S. Marines of the 4th and 5th Divisions land on sacred Japanese soil. Thirty-six days later the fighting is over. Almost all of the 20,000 Japanese defenders are dead, and the shattered remains of three Marine Divisions leave Iwo after suffering over 6,000 dead and 15,000 wounded making Iwo Jima the "Gettysburg of the Pacific." Iwo; Assault on Hell shows a worms eye view of the fighting on Iwo Jima. Seen from the eyes of the 5th Division Marines who fought and bled there, these interwoven experiences paint a blood mosaic that pays tribute to the courage and bravery of our Marine forefathers, who sacrificed so much for this famous island stepping stone.

On August 3, 2006, thirteen US Soldiers were sent to the worst village in the Korangal Valley. Abandoned by the Afghan National Army soldiers supporting them, the small force was ambushed by a numerically superior Taliban force. Almost out of ammunition and water, the survivors were ordered to continue their mission. Landigal is a story of courage and shows how the American soldiers who served in the Korangal Valley live up handsomely to the finest traditions of a superb fighting force - the United States 10th Mountain Division.

On October 12, 2003, five US embedded tactical trainers (ETTs) working with the fledgling Afghan National Army, are ambushed at a derelict former Soviet tank park called the Bone Yard by militia of a local warlord. Outnumber 10 to 1, the US soldiers must clover around their vehicles--except for their commander, LTC Tom Brewer, who is cut off from them, and wounded--and fight it out until help arrives over an hour later. The Bone Yard gives an example of combat in the early years of the Afghanistan War.

Iwo: Assault on Hell gives a worms eye view of the fighting of perhaps WWII's bloodiest battle. Focusing mainly on Marines from the 27th Regiment (but also the 26th, ) 5th Marine Division, Iwo; Assault on Hell gives a glimpse of the violence and ferocity of what would become known as the "Gettysburg of the Pacific." Written from the interviews of over 100 Marines of the 5th Division, Iwo; Assault on Hell shows what the Marines faced from the moment they landed until they left- some on D-day, others days or weeks later, a rare few after 36 days, when the shattered remains of the 5th Marine Division left Iwo Jima.

On July 24, 2006, while scrambling to save a local man kidmapped by the Taliban, elements of C/1/32 10th Mountain Division are ambushed in Shudergay Valley, a tributary valley along the Pech. Facing annihilation, the ambushed patrol is saved by the courage of SGT David Hierholzer, until help can arrive.
