The second series of adventures from Big Finish continues, featuring Christopher Eccleston as the Ninth Doctor. This is the first in a story split across two releases (to be followed by Shadow of the Daleks 2 releasing December 2020) recorded and produced entirely during the Covid-19 lockdown. Together, the two releases make up a 'mini-season' for Peter Davison's Fifth Doctor as he is caught up in the Time War. Each part contains four one-episode adventures, in which the Doctor lands in different times, different places and keeps meeting the same faces, but as different people. 1. Aimed at the Body by James Kettle. An encounter with a notorious cricketing legend should be right up the Doctor's street, but the unexpected appearance of an old enemy is about to send the Doctor on a quest. 2. Lightspeed by Jonathan Morris. The trail has led the Doctor to a spaceship in the far future - where he finds himself trapped in the middle of a terrifying revenge plot. 3. The Bookshop at the End of the World by Simon Guerrier. It's very easy to forget yourself and get lost in a bookshop. But in some bookshops more than most... 4. Interlude by Dan Starkey. The play's the thing! Or is it? The Doctor is roped into a theatrical spectacular - but who is he really performing to? The Doctor, Liv and Helen are out in the universe, picking up missing pieces and finding lost connections. After a package entangles them with shifty Time Lord Drax, the TARDIS crew are haunted by past loves on a space station, before Helen encounters somebody she believed long gone... Here Lies Drax by John Dorney (1 part). The Doctor, Liv and Helen are surprised to get a letter delivered to the TARDIS from the Doctor's old school friend, Drax. They're even more surprised when it's followed by a parcel also sent by the intergalactic con-man, asking them to keep its contents safe. Contents that seem to be a lot of worthless junk. And their surprise gets even bigger when this parcel is itself followed by an invitation - to Drax's funeral. And that's just where the surprises start. The Love Vampires by James Kettle (1 part) Regret can follow people everywhere - even out into deep space, in the shadow of a dying star. When the Doctor, Liv and Helen meet the terrified crew of a space station, all are haunted by faces from the past. But these lost loves are more than mere memories - and they want to feed... Albie's Angels by Roy Gill (1 part). When the Doctor and friends hunt down time anomalies in 2020s Soho, Helen steps into the past and meets the brother she thought she'd lost forever, But there are Weeping Angels in London - and one of the stone assassins wants something from the Doctor and Liv... Tracking the course of the future, the Doctor and friends arrive on Rarkelia – where human forces rule. Earth – and Divine Intervention – are shaping the universe in their own image. Helen, Liv and Tania embed themselves in society, while the Doctor starts a revolution. 3.3 Snow by James Kettle. Returning to London in the 2030s, the TARDIS travellers find a sinister elite taking hold. Baker Street now has just one lonely resident – and what’s more, it is the last place on Earth where snow ever falls. 3.4 What Just Happened? By John Dorney. All actions have consequences. The path to victory or disaster is unclear, unless seen from a different perspective… With the lives of the entire human race at stake, the Doctor confronts a nemesis like no other. And not everyone will make it home. Her one hope is being allowed to choose the legal system under which she’ll be tried. Enter Roger Hodgkiss: curmudgeonly barrister, plucked from a 20th Century English courtroom. He may be out of his depth, but he’ll always stand up for the underdog. 7.4 Carnival of Angels by Roy Gill. New York. 1930s. Melody Malone is new in town and her detective agency is called on to solve an impossible murder. River’s investigations lead her to a curious carnival ride, offering trips to either Heaven or Hell.
