Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

Covering the years 1692-1729, these documents consist mainly of letters between leading citizens and public officials, addressing matters of important historical interest. Eminent names include Sir William Phipps, John Wheelwright, Gov. Shute, Lt. Gov. Dummer, Col. T. Westbrook, Capt. John Penhallow, John Schuyler, Gov. Wm. Burnet, Lt. Gov. Wentworth, J. Wainwright, Col. Wm. Pepperell, Gov. Armstrong and many others. Treaties with Indians, witchcraft trials, French and Indian attacks, Jesuit influence upon the Indians, fisheries and fur trade, construction of fortifications, property descriptions and owners, provisions and supplies, new settlements, military expeditions, and illnesses are just a few of the topics treated in these documents. Documents are chronologically arranged, allowing the reader to follow events in an orderly manner, and augmented by an index of full-names, important events, topics and places.
