When a baby boy is left on the doorstep of an older couple, it
sets in motion a chain of events that lead to an attempt to end the
life of the grown boy. The young man had tried to locate his birth
mother and failed. Then in a surprise turn of events, the birth
mother is exposed which creates a situation whereby the injured
party is turned into a mentally disturbed woman. The young man must
rely on the girl who is the love of his life to survive. Can she
meet the challenge?
At the age of thirteen the husky Travis Singer strikes out to

"THE VALLEY" is a historical novel set near Jackson, Wyoming.
Randolph Schmidt's life story begins in Omaha, Nebraska, where he
meets and befriends Standing Bear, a Chief of the Ponca Indians.
This relationship later allows Randolph to gain title to a valley
in its virgin state. He vows to keep it in that condition. He must
defend it against intrusions by road construction, an electric
power company, and land developers. Along the way he meets actual
historical characters from Wyoming's past Some of the historical
personalities beside Standing Bear, are Lillian Heath, first woman
doctor in Wyoming, Clifford Hansen and Lee Simpson, and Nellie
Tayloe Ross, former Governors of Wyoming, Many of these men and
women possess the same characteristics as Randolph. Jules Schmidt,
Randolph's son, is an outdoor guide who also crosses paths with
personalities from America's past. When Randolph dies, his
grandson, Andrus inherits the valley and pledges to continue his
grandfather's dream.
When Ralph Kellem comes across a girl buried in the woods, he
gets caught up in a tangle of a sheriff who would do whaever is
necessary to solve a crime and Ralph's attempts a playing detective
to help sold the crime puts him in jeperdy as he is now a
suspect.
The Sheriff has his own legal problems and Ralph's sister does
not help when she befrends one of the other suspects. The ways of
justice are strange indeed.
