The film focuses on the last few months of Lincoln's life, which not only saw the ending of slavery despite dogged opposition from many inside Lincoln's own cabinet, but also the Union victory in the American Civil War. The supporting cast includes Sally Field as Lincoln's wife Mary, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Lincoln's son Robert and Tommy Lee Jones as Radical Republican Congressional leader Thaddeus Stevens. Daniel Day-Lewis won the Academy Award, a Golden Globe and a BAFTA for Best Actor for his performance.

Steven Spielberg directs this adaptation of Roald Dahl's novel starring Mark Rylance as the Big Friendly Giant. The film follows Sophie (Ruby Barnhill) as she is whisked away from her orphanage by the BFG and taken to Giant Country where she is immediately at risk of being eaten by the other, larger giants, including Fleshlumpeater (Jemaine Clement) and Bloodbottler (Bill Hader). Together, Sophie and the BFG go on an adventure to Dream Country where they capture dreams for the BFG to give to all of the human world's sleeping children. After coming up with a cunning plan, the pair head back to London to see if the Queen (Penelope Wilton) can help them tackle the problem of the bullying, child-eating giants.

Tom Hanks stars in this historical drama, set during the Cold War, directed by Steven Spielberg. When Rudolf Abel (Mark Rylance) sits down on a park bench in Brooklyn, New York, a secret message left for him causes the FBI to arrest him under suspicion of being a Soviet spy. When insurance lawyer James B. Donovan (Hanks) is assigned to Abel's defence, he finds his new challenge increasingly difficult as the defendent refuses to co-operate. The cast also includes Amy Ryan, Alan Alda and Domenick Lombardozzi.

Steven Spielberg brings Hergé's Tintin to the big screen with this animated adventure. With plot lines drawn from three Tintin stories - 'The Crab With the Golden Claws', 'The Secret of the Unicorn' and 'Red Rackham's Treasure' - the film follows intrepid young reporter Tintin (voiced by Jamie Bell) as he joins forces with Captain Haddock (Andy Serkis) to find the treasure of his ancestor, Sir Francis Haddoque. A clue hidden inside a model ship bought on a market stall seems to point the way to the treasure. With the assistance of accident-prone Detectives Thompson and Thomson (Simon Pegg and Nick Frost), Tintin and Haddock set out to solve the mystery. Needless to say, though, they are not the only ones after the loot.
