More than 200 entries cover the serious, the silly and the
downright bizarre from the world of beer. Inside this pint-sized
compendium you'll find everything from the biggest brewer in the
world to the beers with the daftest names. A quick skim before a
night out and you'll always have enough beery wisdom to impress
your friends.
There has never been a better time to drink quality beer. The
number and variety of excellent beers in general circulation has
never been greater, both in the pub (where guest ales and beer
festivals are regular features) and in the supermarket. More people
than ever are searching for an understanding of what makes a great
beer, and this book meets that demand by presenting a crash course
in beer appreciation, with short cuts to an understanding of the
beer styles of the world, beer flavours, how beer is made, the
ingredients, breweries and museums to visit, and more. So you
want...is the ideal book, for anyone, from beginners to the more
experienced, who wants to further their knowledge and enjoyment of
beer. The novelty of this book - and its key point of difference
with other beer titles - is that it doesn't just relate the facts
but helps readers reach conclusions for themselves. A key element
is formed by the interactive tastings that show readers, through
their own taste-buds, what beer is all about. The book covers all
the basics of beer knowledge (and more) but then points readers in
the right direction for a greater understanding - towards places to
visit, people to talk to and in-depth books to read.
The crisis around teaching and learning of mathematics and its use in everyday life and work relate to a number of issues. These include: The doubtful transferability of school maths to real life contexts, the declining participation in A level and higher education maths courses, the apparent exclusion of some groups, such as women and the aversion of many people to maths. This book addresses these issues by considering a number of key problems in maths education and numeracy: *differences among social groups, especially those related to gender and social class *the inseparability of cognition and emotion in mathematical activity *the understanding of maths anxiety in traditional psychological, psychoanalytical and feminist theories *how adults' numerate thinking and performance must be understood in context. The author's findings have practical applications in education and training, such as clarifying problems of the transfer of learning, and of countering maths anxiety.

Andalas International Nursing Conference (AINiC) is a dedicated
conference aimed at researchers in nursing, public health and other
health sciences topics. The 1st AINiC 2017 was held in Padang, West
Sumatra, Indonesia, from 25-27 September 2017. The conference theme
was "Strengthening Research Capacity and Disseminating New Findings
in Nursing and Public Health". This event was successful in
bringing together experts, researchers, healthcare professionals,
and students worldwide. It was an inspiring occasion for most of
the participants and was a great opportunity for research
development learning, especially with regard to disseminating new
findings in nursing and to stimulate networking of nursing
professionals, researchers and educators. The research topics that
were presented during the conference have clearly indicated the
need for literature development and guidance of clinical practice
decisions. We hope this conference has provided ample opportunities
for participants to gain a more in-depth understanding of knowledge
and renewed perspectives. All these aspects have been acknowledged
by the participants during the conference. The 1st AINiC was a
rewarding event and we look forward to your attendance and
participation in the next AINiC conference that will also provide
stimulating research developments, networking and cooperation.

The Polynesian navigator Kupe is credited with the discovery of the
land his expedition named Aotearoa, country of the long white
cloud. How did he and the many voyagers that followed find their
way without modern navigational techniques through perilous seas in
wooden canoes?By examining myth, star charts and contemporary
Polynesian seafaring, Jeff Evans traces the methods by which the
early explorers made their epic voyages in Part One. The book s
second part travels with Maori canoe expert Matahi Brightwell and
navigator Frances Cowan aboard the traditional canoe Hawaiki-nui
following age0old navigational techniques with no modern aids on
its historic voyage from Tahiti down to New Zealand."

The over two million men and women incarcerated in penitentiaries
and jails have become America's forgotten population. This
extraordinary anthology of autobiographical prison writings brings
the reader inside their silent and hidden world.
Culled from more than four hundred submissions nationwide, the
thirty-six pieces here represent works by a broad spectrum of
prisoners: young and old, unknown and infamous, minimum security
check forgers and death row inmates. The authors include notorious
"Preppie Murderer" Robert Chambers; an elderly truck driver who
strangled the woman he professed to love; and a gang member
recalling his violent street life. All talk in their own uncensored
words about themselves and their families, about their motives and
personal demons, about committing crime and doing time.
Just as this collection gives prisoners the rare chance to
communicate who they are and what went wrong, it also gives the
reader a unique opportunity to see convicts not as hardened
criminals but as human beings.
