This volume contains refereed manuscripts prepared from presentations made at the 2ih annual meeting of the International Society on Oxygen Transport to Tissue (ISOTT). The meeting was held in Hanover, NH, USA, at Dartmouth Medical School, the 3rd oldest medical school in the USA. ISOTT attempts to produce high quality pUblications on cutting edge topics relating to oxygen in living systerns. The goal is to allow contributors to contribute original data, as with a main-stream journal article, but also to voice individual opinions and ideas in a more relaxed scientific forum. The meeting brought together an international group of scientists who share a common interest in the measurement and role of oxygen in living systems. The organizers of ISOTT99 made a special effort to bring together people from industry, medicine, and basic sciences in order to improve the links in the chain of discovery through to application. As a result, this volume contains publications on a range of subjects. There are contributions from companies on modifiers of oxygen carrying capacity (allosteric modifiers of hemoglobin and infusible oxygen carriers or blood substitutes); technical reports on oxygen measurement devices including advances in near-infrared spectroscopy and imaging, oxygen electrodes, magnetic resonance spectroscopy and imaging, and fluorescence based measurements. There are medically related sections on modifying and measuring tumor oxygenation in order to improve therapy, assessment and interpretation of oxygenation in the central nervous system, and general issues relating oxygen to pathological conditions.

An important issue in epistemology concerns the source of epistemic normativity. Epistemic consequentialism maintains that epistemic norms are genuine norms in virtue of the way in which they are conducive to epistemic value, whatever epistemic value may be. So, for example, the epistemic consequentialist might say that it is a norm that beliefs should be consistent, in that holding consistent beliefs is the best way to achieve the epistemic value of accuracy. Thus epistemic consequentialism is structurally similar to the family of consequentialist views in ethics. Recently, philosophers from both formal epistemology and traditional epistemology have shown interest in such a view. In formal epistemology, there has been particular interest in thinking of epistemology as a kind of decision theory where instead of maximizing expected utility one maximizes expected epistemic utility. In traditional epistemology, there has been particular interest in various forms of reliabilism about justification and whether such views are analogous to-and so face similar problems to-versions of consequentialism in ethics. This volume presents some of the most recent work on these topics as well as others related to epistemic consequentialism, by authors that are sympathetic to the view and those who are critical of it.

In this book, Jeff is sharing from some of his own adversities in hopes that you will see through scripture how God's grace and mercy helped people in the Bible, helped in Jeff's life and how God's grace and mercy is sufficient to help you today no matter where you are in life. The hope is that by the time you are done reading this book, you will start to see how the Lord's grace, mercy and love is what will help you through your situation no matter how small or big you think it is. No matter how bad we think it is, it doesn't matter to Him. He has already paid the ultimate sacrifice and still wants you to come to Him, just as you are, so He can help and show you the way through it. Jeffrey Dunn and his wife Tammy have three young children. Jeff was born in the Milwaukee area and still resides there today. Jeff is the youngest of four siblings. He is a Navy veteran, serving from 1987 - 1991. He is also an avid fan of all Wisconsin's sport teams. Jeff is an ordained deacon and also a certified Joy Restoration/Grief Coach and Steven's Minister. By going through these trainings, it has helped him in his own life and in his walk with Lord, allowing him to help others by coming alongside them.
