The Silent Violence: A Beautiful Mess is the result of what 16
students accomplished in a 10 week semester. The class was devoted
to examining the way in which educational institutions both create
and perpetuate inequalities between individuals and groups. All
students bring to the classroom creativity that can be tapped and
unleashed, if the instructor is willing to spend time emphasizing
the importance of the material and the value of their students. It
is the authors' hope that this book can inspire teachers, at every
educational level, to believe in their students' unique potential
and capacity for creativity.
