Animated feature based on an original idea by creator Joe Barbera.
In an empty opera house, Jerry wishes for his chance to perform and
magically his dream comes true. The little mouse is whisked away to
an enchanted kingdom where anything is possible - candy forests,
singing snowflakes, even the toys spring to life. Jerry has a great
time with his new friends and when Jerry dances with a music box
ballerina, he is as happy as happy can be. Unfortunately, a group
of alley cats led by Tom, crash Jerry's party, kidnap the music box
ballerina and wreak havoc in the holiday kingdom. It's up to Jerry
to set things right and send those mean old cats back to the alley
where they belong. With some help from a mouse named Tuffy and all
his newfound friends, Jerry just might win the day.
The Companies Act (No. 71 of 2008), as now amended by the Companies Amendment Act (No. 3 of 2011), introduced many concepts, principles and rules that were foreign to South Africa's common law. However, the new Act does not indicate clearly to what extent it replaces the common law.
Corporate Law For Commerce Students is thus a much-needed guide to the structure and fundamentals of the new company regime.
Corporate Law For Commerce Students covers three types of business venture, namely partnerships, companies and close corporations, which each carry different rights and obligations, and ultimately liabilities, for the entrepreneur. It discusses, inter alia, how to choose the right option for a specific business; the partnership concept, the establishment of a legal personality; compliance, transparency and accountability; shares, securities, stock and debt instruments; fundamental transactions, takeovers and offers; business rescue and compromise with creditors; and termination and dissolution - all within the framework of the new Companies Act and the common law. It includes figures, tables and mind maps to clarify each topic, and provides assessments at the end of each chapter.
Corporate Law For Commerce Students is aimed both at students who are studying Commercial Law, Business Entities or Corporate Law and practising accountants and auditors.
Plant Regeneration from Seeds: A Global Warming Perspective
comprehensively reviews the effects caused by climate change on
global plant regeneration, growth and seed germination. Initial
chapters discuss specific geographical regions such as steppes, the
artic, boreal and alpine zones, dry and tropical forests and
deserts. Subsequent chapters explore special seed-related topics
like fire, soil seed banks, crops, weed emergence, and invasive
species Written by leaders in the field of seed germination and
plant growth, this is an essential read for researchers and
academics interested in plant growth, plant regeneration, seed
germination and the effects of these in relation to climate change.
Eschatology is the study of the last things: death, judgment, the
afterlife, and the end of the world. Through centuries of Christian
thoughtfrom the early Church fathers through the Middle Ages and
the Reformationthese issues were of the utmost importance. In other
religions, too, eschatological concerns were central. After the
Enlightenment, though, many religious thinkers began to downplay
the importance of eschatology which, in light of rationalism, came
to be seen as something of an embarrassment. The twentieth century,
however, saw the rise of phenomena that placed eschatology back at
the forefront of religious thought. From the rapid expansion of
fundamentalist forms of Christianity, with their focus on the end
times; to the proliferation of apocalyptic new religious movements;
to the recent (and very public) debates about suicide, martyrdom,
and paradise in Islam, interest in eschatology is once again on the
rise. In addition to its popular resurgence, in recent years some
of the worlds most important theologians have returned eschatology
to its former position of prominence. The Oxford Handbook of
Eschatology will provide an important critical survey of this
diverse body of thought and practice from a variety of
perspectives: biblical, historical, theological, philosophical, and
cultural. This volume will be the primary resource for students,
scholars, and others interested in questions of our ultimate
existence.
Thirty years ago, Alvin Plantinga gave a lecture called "Two Dozen
(or so) Theistic Arguments," which served as an underground
inspiration for two generations of scholars and students. In it, he
proposed a number of novel and creative arguments for the existence
of God which have yet to receive the attention they deserve. In Two
Dozen (or so) Arguments for God, each of Plantinga's original
suggestions, many of which he only briefly sketched, is developed
in detail by a wide variety of accomplished scholars. The authors
look to metaphysics, epistemology, semantics, ethics, aesthetics,
and beyond, finding evidence for God in almost every dimension of
reality. Those arguments new to natural theology are more fully
developed, and well-known arguments are given new life. Not only
does this collection present ground-breaking research, but it lays
the foundations for research projects for years to come.
A straight-to-video parallel storyline to the Disney smash hit
'Beauty and the Beast'. Returning to the time when Belle was
imprisoned in the Beast's castle, the film tells of the young
woman's attempts to bring some Christmas cheer to her surroundings,
even though the Beast doesn't like the festive season. To this end,
Belle invites all the enchanted objects from the castle to help,
encouraging them to sing and dance so that the spirit of Yuletide
might thaw the Beast's heart.

Naturalistic ethics is the reigning paradigm among contemporary
ethicists; in God and Cosmos, Baggett and Walls argue that this
approach is seriously flawed. This book canvasses a broad array of
secular and naturalistic ethical theories in an effort to test
their adequacy in accounting for moral duties, intrinsic human
value, prospects for radical moral transformation, and the
rationality of morality. In each case, the authors argue, although
various secular accounts provide real insights and indeed share
common ground with theistic ethics, the resources of classical
theism and orthodox Christianity provide the better explanation of
the moral realities under consideration. Among such realities is
the fundamental insight behind the problem of evil, namely, that
the world is not as it should be. Baggett and Walls argue that God
and the world, taken together, exhibit superior explanatory scope
and power for morality classically construed, without the need to
water down the categories of morality, the import of human value,
the prescriptive strength of moral obligations, or the deliverances
of the logic, language, and phenomenology of moral experience. This
book thus provides a cogent moral argument for God's existence, one
that is abductive, teleological, and cumulative.

How can we trust God is involved in our story when our circumstances
seem to say He isn’t?
In A Grace Revealed: How God Redeems the Story of Your Life, Jerry
Sittser reflects on God’s redeeming work in his own life after
tragically losing his daughter, wife, and mother in a car accident.
Sharing his story, Sittser seeks to help people understand and trust
that God is writing a beautiful redemptive story in their own lives,
too. God wants to use the harsh conditions of life to shape us—and
eventually the whole world—into something extraordinarily beautiful.
Whether you are young or old; single, married, divorced, or widowed;
employed, unemployed, or retired; rooted in a community or profoundly
lonely; satisfied with your circumstances or disappointed with them,
redemption is the work of Jesus Christ applied to the story of your
life. You are not beyond God's redemptive reach—not now, not ever.

This incisive and thought-provoking book examines the regulation of
cryptocurrency trading by state and federal financial services
regulators in the US, in order to understand why these statutes
proved to be ineffective in regulating this new asset class. It
further analyzes and evaluates pending proposals in Congress for
more effective cryptocurrency regulation. Providing a
sector-by-sector exploration of the financial services industry,
the book delves into the Securities and Exchange Commission’s
(SEC) efforts to regulate cryptocurrencies, highlighting the flaws
in its jurisdictional claims, as well as the exclusion of “actual
delivery” contracts from Commodity Futures Trading Commission
(CFTC) jurisdiction and how this applies to cryptocurrencies. The
chapters chart the invention and rise of cryptocurrencies,
fluctuations in the cryptocurrency market, and the regulation of
cryptocurrencies under banking laws, the Federal Securities Laws,
and as ‘commodities’. In addition, it reviews the application
of banking and money transmitter regulations to cryptocurrency
trading platforms and proposes a bespoke regulator structure for
cryptocurrencies. Cryptocurrency Regulation: A Primer is an
essential resource for students and scholars of economics, finance
and banking law, and internet and technology law. It will also be
beneficial for financial services professionals, regulators, and
members of the financial press.
