Still the most popular subject for dioramas at any military
modelling show, WWII gives the modeller the opportunity to try out
his repertoire from burnt out buildings to weathered machines and
men. This book explores the many facets of the subject and shows
how composition is all.
Probably the greatest test of the modeller is achieving the
perfectly posed figure. This title explains how best to set up the
figure, and goes on to deal with the niceties of painting, facial
expressions, clothing etc. With no detail unexplored, everything is
clearly explained with step by step photos.
This is the third in the Modelling Manual series which deals with
the basics of military vehicle modelling - one of the most popular
subjects for modellers. The first of three books to deal with this
fascinating subject, Basic Vehicle Modelling introduces the
modeller to some basic model types with a series of close up, step
by step photographs. Working with kits from Tamiya, Verlinden,
Revell and others, the less experienced modeller is shown the do's
and don'ts of modelling techniques, with particular emphasis on the
common difficulties that the inexperienced modeller might face.
This series will build into a library of practical information for
the modeller.
Germany's nightfighter force was virtually non-existent at the
start of the war, mainly due to Reichmashall Herman Goring's boast
that bombs would never fall on Germany. By mid 1940 the folly of
this statement had been revealed and the first Luftwaffe
nightfighter wing was formed. Their effectiveness was greatly
enhanced by the creation of a radar chain stretching from Denmark
to Switzerland. By 1942 the Luftwaffe was equiped with some 389
fighters fitted with advanced airbourne radar which helped to
destroy hundreds of RAF bombers. This detailed text explains the
conflict and tactics flown and includes interviews with some of the
leading aces. Scale drawings of the all the major nightfighters
used are presented, including the Bf110, Ju88, Do 17/217 and Hs
219.
