The discovery of oil in the 1950s transformed the country's fortunes, and the UAE today is a land of contrasts embracing skyscrapers, high-tech communications, and luxury hotels, while conservative values and religion remain strong. Jessica Hill was born and raised in North Carolina. She then moved to Texas, where she resides today. Her love of writing started when she was 9 years old. Her love for writing poetry has always been her passion.
