This volume provides an introduction for flood risk management
practitioners, up-to-date methods for analysis of uncertainty and
its use in risk-based decision making. It addresses decision making
for both short term (real-time forecasting) and long term (flood
risk planning under change) situations. It aims primarily at
technical practitioners involved in flood risk analysis and flood
warning, including hydrologists, engineers, flood modelers, risk
analysts and those involved in the design and operation of flood
warning systems. Many experienced practitioners are now expected to
modify their way of working to fit into the new philosophy of flood
risk management. This volume helps them to undertake that task with
appropriate attention to the surrounding uncertainties. The book
will also interest and benefit researchers and graduate students
hoping to improve their knowledge of modern uncertainty analysis.

Online journalism is revolutionizing the way news is reported and
read. The rise of the Internet has forever changed the way
audiences interact with the news--stories are posted the moment
they break and readers routinely expect to be able to access both
the news sources and local perspectives. Online news and the media
juggernauts who own it raise a number of urgent questions about
accuracy, press autonomy, freedom of speech, and economic
exclusion.Jim Hall provides a comprehensive guide to the emerging
field of cyberjournalism and examines the issues it raises. Looking
at how interactive texts are both written and read, the book
surveys the new technologies and conventions that online journalism
has ushered in. The author uses case studies such as Monicagate and
the war in Kosovo to illustrate both the opportunities and the
limitations of cyberjournalism. It is designed as a text to
introduce how cyberjournalism works and how it can be used in
innovative ways. For scholars and students of the media and
cultural studies, "Online Journalism" is indispensable.

I've adapted coaching into "coaching buttons," where I use an
available opportunity to do a brief coaching conversation with
someone. The coaching button is a short coaching moment that sticks
with your listener. Like the button on a shirt or coat, a coaching
button doesn't do the whole job, but over time as you use more
coaching buttons, the whole picture comes together. They key is to
make these coaching buttons easily understood and memorable, so
they are able to stand on their own and be part of a larger story.
This book is a collection of essays about various topics on
leadership and vision in information technology. As each essay
presents an individual lesson about leadership, each can be viewed
as a coaching button on that topic. By reading this book, I hope
the coaching buttons will provide some insight on how to be a
leader, how to lead through change, and how to do strategic
planning. These are the essentials of good leadership.
A concise compilation of logical and reasonable responses to
Christian apologetic claims. This book will be of use to anyone who
debates with Christians. It offers "old hands" a reminder of some
of the arguments they may have forgotten, and maybe provides some
new ones. It offers newcomers to the debate the common sense and
rationality that is atheism and very good advice on how to keep
control of theists who attempt to veer off the point or steer their
rudders toward safer waters.
Rev. Jim Hall's new book, Twilight, Poems, Prayers, and More," is a
follow up to his first book, "The Ocean Beach Pier, Poems and
Prayers." In this exciting new book, Rev. Jim shares his
experiences of retirement with us, his theologizing in retirment,
more twelve step thoughts, some prayers, and a section on his life
as a ten year old and how it helped form his though process for
life. It reflect the very busy life of a retired minister working
in a homeless center, and trying to find ways to promote his books
now that that he's written them. Get to know the "Grey Squirrel,
God of the Wheatfields, and Twilight," just as you pondered
writings from his first book.
