In 1973 on a ten day hike in the beautiful Shenandoah Mountains, I
camped one night with two enthusiastic Appalachian Trail
thru-hikers. They were generous enough to share some of their
adventures with me. It sounded fun. At that moment I decided to
thru-hike the Appalachian Trail. Thirty-six years later, having
recently retired, my dream became a reality. I didn't see this as a
life changing event. I just wanted to have a fun hike. It turned
out to be one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life. Have
you ever taken a trip, had high expectations for it, and have it
far exceed those expectations? That would be the best way to
describe my thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail. Wow What an
adventure
Running out of water in the scorching desert, a rattlesnake coiled
and ready to strike, a lone coyote howling mournfully through the
quiet star filled night, sparkling mountain lakes spread out below
Forrester Pass, fragrant fields of bright lupine, cascading
waterfalls, encroaching forest fires, majestic glacier-covered
volcanoes, healthy green forests, bears, curious marmots, filthy,
friendly, lean and hungry thru-hikers. Hiking the Pacific Crest
Trail in 2012 was a fun, challenging adventure. If you have hiked
the Pacific Crest Trail, this book will bring back memories. If you
would like to hike the Pacific Crest Trail, this book will show you
ways to prepare and give you an idea of what it is like. If you
have no intention of hiking the Pacific Crest Trail but are curious
what it would be like, this book is for you.
The goal of any Christian is to be as much like Christ as possible,
but the way to getting there is more surprising than you think. In
Getting Processed, pastor and consultant Jim Hill shows you how
cycles of difficulty are actually Christ's way of honing us and
helping us grow. The journey, says Hill, is actually more important
than the destination. Filled with scriptures and written in a
conversational style, Hill shows why the Bible is more important
and relevant to our everyday lives than ever before and that even
major transitions or crises can sometimes facilitate us becoming
our best selves. Important and inspirational, Getting Processed
will provide great encouragement for Christians desiring to see
beyond their circumstances.
Illustrated here are the testimonies of some of the struggling
saints of God who have experienced God's mercy and grace to heal,
and provided are the principles of healing and specific processes
that have been proven helpful in practical, hands-on ministry.
