Jimmy Lee was the best shooter from 15-feet I have ever seen. If he got his shot, he made it. Early, middle, or late in games it did not matter when. Jimmy had great fundamentals, he worked hard and he shot the ball with great confidence. He was so consistent; if he missed a shot you thought it was an accident. His thoughts and techniques can help anyone improve their free throw shooting Jim Boeheim Head Coach at Syracuse University, Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, Class of 2005; 2008 Olympic Gold Medal, Team USA, 2010 World Championship Gold Medal, Team USA; 2010 Division I Coach of the Year Jim Lee and I were contemporaries at Syracuse. He played in the games I talked about them. I remember him as a clutch shooter (in the 1975 NCAA Tournament, his 18-footer with 3 seconds left upset North Carolina, and paved the way for Syracuse s first trip to the Final Four). Since Jimmy was pretty close to automatic from the foul line, just about every player, at every level, can benefit from his advice and proven approach. Bob Costas NBC Sports This is a rare book, because Jim is able to weave together invaluable skills instruction with a very personal and informative story about his relationships with teammates, coaches, and most importantly his family. Jim s father, as both a veteran and a person with disabilities, clearly served as an exemplar for Jim with regard to how he approached basketball and how he approached life. This is clearly illustrated by the fact that Jim has committed to leverage the proceeds from sales of this book to improve the lives of this generation of veterans with disabilities. On so many levels, Jim s book is powerfully positioned to impart lessons about basketball and life that are meaningful and timeless. Mike Haynie, PhD Executive Director, Institute for Veterans and Military Families, Syracuse University; Barnes Professor of Entrepreneurship, Whitman School of Management, Syracuse University Fifteen Feet For Free is an easy read for all ages. It can be very helpful for kids just beginning their basketball days, and I can see a great benefit for more experienced players. The fundamental instructions in this book can easily improve a player s free throw percentage. Morgan Wootten 1,274 wins as Head Basketball Coach at DeMatha HS; Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, Class of 2000; National Coach of the 20th Century; Four-time recipient of National Coach of the Year; 10-time recipient of Coach of the Year in the Washington D.C. Area The fundamentals of great free throw shooting are in complete alignment with the values of practice, repetition, goal sitting, and mental calm that successful business people employ. Jim gets this and writes about it in an amazingly real and compelling way. Mike Perlis President and CEO, Forbes Media

In 1992, Marvel Entertainment commissioned Jim Lee, the young superstar penciller behind X-Men (vol. 2) no. 1, the bestselling single-issue comic book of all time, to create all of the art for a new set of 105 trading cards-a set that would go on to become one of the most celebrated in Marvel history and the gold standard for non-sports trading-card artwork and design. Lee was the first artist to create all of the original artwork for a Marvel card set; his dynamic character portraits, battle scenes, team shots, and innovative nine-card Danger Room puzzle cards helped fuel both the '90s boom of comic-book trading cards and the general public's mania for all things X-Men. Fans of the chart-topping comics could turn to the cards for further insight into their favorite characters, as Marvel writers and editors-inspired by classic baseball cards-included bios, stats, and trivia for each hero and villain. The Uncanny X-Men Trading Cards: Series One collects, for the first time, the front and back of each collectible card in the set-including Wolverine, Storm, Cyclops, Magneto, and Deadpool-alongside select scans of Lee's original and digitally remastered art. It also includes interviews conducted by author and set editor Bob Budiansky, with the Marvel staff who helped commission, design, and create these iconic trading cards.

With a documented history stretching back a thousand years, Dunster Castle in Somerset is one of Britain's oldest and most intriguing great buildings, its turrets evoking centuries of warfare, dark deeds, bloodshed and treachery. What makes it particularly unusual is the prominent role women have played in its fortunes, from the indomitable Joan de Mohun in the 14th century, who promised as much land to the villagers as she could walk around barefoot in a day, to Lady Jane Luttrell, who saw off a Royalist attack during the English Civil War by personally commanding the cannons. Jim Lee worked for many years at the castle and knows more about it than just about anyone. Here he presents an entertaining history of the roles, from the heroic to the self-indulgent, its women have played over the centuries.

Titanium aluminide intermetallics have received much attention for potential application in areas of aerospace, automobile and marine due to their relatively high strength, low density and high resistance to oxidation. They are likely to be exposed to a variety of corrosive environments. Therefore, knowledge of their corrosion behaviour is necessary for potential applications. The present work investigates the microstructure and corrosion behaviour of a number of titanium aluminides with salt-fog spray and methods of electrochemical polarisation. The mechanism of salt fog corrosion of Ti3Al is suggested. The addition of Nb and Cr changes their microstructure and surface composition which directly affect their corrosion and oxidation behavior. This is a valuable reference for corrosion scholars, engineers and researchers, as well as designers and operators.
Texas Country Singers contains brief biographies of twenty-seven Texas singers. The artists chosen are traditional country singers like Ernest Tubb, Lefty Frizzell, Hank Thompson, Willie Nelson, and Ray Price. The authors have not included rockabilly artists, modern country-pop singers, singers of local or regional reputation, or singers of purely western songs. The twenty-seven singers are Texas born, admittedly an artificial discrimination, but one made necessary by the size of these small books. The authors include some almost forgotten names like Vernon Dalhart, the earliest Texas country singer to make a national name, and Moon Mullican, a singer/pianist who influenced Jerry Lee Lewis and other piano playing singers. Fans with long memories won't forget Adolph Hofner, Tommy Duncan, Milton Brown, and Stuart Hamblen (who once came in fourth in a race for President of the United States). And everyone still remembers Gene Autry, Jim Reeves, Tex Ritter, Buck Owens, Waylon Jennings, Tanya Tucker, Lee Ann Womack, and the contemporary king of Texas country, George Strait. Each sketch includes the best-known songs, as well as the awards and honors each earned. |
