This book summarizes the recent advancements for biomaterials in
the field of cardiovascular disease, including drug delivery system
(gene, protein, drug), implant interventional instrument (heart
valve, heart blocker, stent, artificial blood vessel, patch,
artificial heart, cardiac pacemaker, etc.) have been innovated and
applied to the clinical uses to treatment of cardiovascular
disease. Through the summary of this book, readers will have
comprehensive and advanced understanding of the application of
biomaterials in the field of cardiovascular disease.
This book combines the experience and achievements in engineering
practice of the China Academy of Space Technology, Xi’an, with a
focus on the field of high-power multipactor over recent decades.
It introduces the main concepts, theories, methods and latest
technologies of multipactor simulation, at both the theoretical
level and as a process of engineering, while providing a
comprehensive introduction to the outstanding progress made in the
research technology of multipactor numerical simulation in China.
At the same time, a three-dimensional numerical simulation method
of multipactor for typical high-power microwave components of
spacecraft is introduced. This book is an essential volume for
engineers in the field of high-power microwave technology. It can
also be used as a reference for researchers in related fields, or
as a teaching reference book for graduate students majoring in
Astronautics at colleges and universities.
This book is an autobiographical interview with Chinese Academician
Yuan Wang on his experience in mathematical research. The book
looks back on Wang's collaboration with his teacher Hua Loo-Keng
and younger scholars, offering insights into fruitful cooperation
in mathematical research. In this book, Yuan Wang’s path of
studying Goldbach conjecture is revealed in detail from motivation
to method. Then his work on algebraic number theory is traced back
in a separate chapter. The book ends with two chapters which
introduce Wang’s interest in history of mathematics and his
hobbies outside of mathematical research. Wang shows how a
mathematician can in the same time be a historical and popular
science writer and, in particular, a well-received
calligrapher. The book is intended for undergraduate and
graduate students studying number theory. Researchers who are
willing to learn from the experience of an established
mathematician, as well as math amateurs and general audience who
are interested in Yuan Wang's life story might also find this book
appealing.

China's War against the Many Faces of Poverty measures
multidimensional poverty in China and deprivation related to
income, education, health issues, living standards and social
security. The book adopts a well-developed methodology using three
different empirical datasets to analyse aspects of regional
diversity across rural and urban and migrant populations of China.
The book also analyses the links between development policies
considered by the government and the various facets of poverty in
light of rapid economic growth and addresses important policy
implications. In the existing literature, in-depth research on
multidimensional poverty in China is almost non-existent. This book
is a pioneer study in this important field of research. With its
innovative approach in concepts and methodologies and in its
analysis of policy implications make this book a definitive and
valuable addition to the literature.
Based on data collected through in-depth fieldwork observation and
interviews in Bai Township, this book examines how women with
disabilities in rural Southwest China compensate for their
disability identity through marriage. As the first book to theorize
the married life of rural-based women with different types of
disabilities, it provides a more holistic picture of their marital
life by tracing the marriage process from mate selection to wedding
ceremony, reproduction and role performance. It also generates a
substantive theory grounded in the real experiences of women living
with disabilities with Jing Yang arguing that these women are not
passive victims in the marital process, but active agents who
endeavour to minimize the risk of abuse and maximize security and
satisfaction in their marriage. By examining the effects of
fertility, patriarchy and village society on women with disability,
this book will be of huge interest to students and scholars of many
disciplines, including disability studies, sociology, social work,
women's studies and Chinese culture and society.
