death of his beloved brother in unstable 1880s Hungary. It doesn't
take long for Miklos Varda to regret losing yet another son, but
it's already too late to find Stephan. Strong-tempered Miklos
learns one bitter lesson after another until he becomes homeless
himself -- at the same time Stephan is learning about the mercy of
Jesus Christ from a beautiful, devout young Hungarian-American.
Intricately coordinated events lead both Stephan and Miklos to
America and to a pivotal decision: whether or not to accept God's
undying love.
Picking up where the first book in the Fort Bridger series leaves
off, Consider the Lilies finds Hannah's wagon train twenty days
from Fort Bridger as she deals with her children's and her own
grief over her husband's death. In Fort Bridger, the Solomons make
many friends. Yet there is one man, embittered by the Civil War,
who hates Hannah because her husband fought on the Union side of
the war, and because she is a strong woman who still plans to run
the general store. In a fit of temper, this man, Alex Patterson,
sets a fire that destroys Hannah's store, and seemingly her future.
But just when Hannah is about to give up, she is reminded to cling
to God's promises that he will provide. Soon she sees God's hand
upon her life. As a result, Hannah is able to recover...and even
lead Alex Patterson to Christ through her example of forgiveness.
In this seventh installment in the Hannah of Fort Bridger series,
twin tragedies set the stage for God's glorious provision. A
vicious mountain lion attack leaves beautiful, young rancher Carrie
Wright a widow. An outlaw on his way to prison escapes the law long
enough to shoot Doug McClain's wife, making him the lonely father
of a young daughter. Then heroine Hannah Cooper, newly widowed
herself, comforts Carrie with the knowledge that while God's
servants will tread through the valley of weeping, they will also
keep moving toward another mountaintop. When employment
opportunities bring Doug and Carrie together, unexpected sparks fly
and finally they can envision a future "beyond the valley."

she have to prove it? Thousands of devoted Lacy readers will find

New Orleans, 1870. With her infant daughter Larissa, Julianna
LeCroix heads west to begin a new life in Idaho after unscrupulous
lawyers steal her inheritance following her husband's death. Along
the way she encounters kind strangers who share the gospel with
her, and a desperate drifter named Jack Bower who takes her hostage
to conceal his identity from hired killers hot on his trail. As he
travels with Julianna, Jack finds himself falling in love with the
spirited and beautiful young widow. He hires on with a local
rancher, becomes a Christian, and eventually asks Julianna to marry
him-just before the stagecoach that would separate them forever
heads for the horizon
In southern Wyoming, an influenza epidemic sweeps in on the tails
of a raging blizzard. An already tense situation between whites and
the Cheyenne, Shoshoni, and Blackfoot Indian tribes is aggravated
when the Indians begin attacking settlers and soldiers alike. Only
the nearby Crow remain friendly, at one point even rescuing an army
patrol under attack. When influenza and starvation threaten the
Crow, Hannah and a young doctor come to their aid. The hungry
settlers complain at first, but eventually come to admire and
respect the example set by Hannah's Touch of Compassion.
Countless perils menaced the early settlers of the Wild West - and
not the least of them was the lack of medical care. Dr. Dane Logan,
a former street waif who has been adopted by a doctor's family in
Cheyenne, puts his lifelong dream to work filling this need. His
renown as a surgeon spreads throughout the frontier, even while his
love grows for the beautiful Tharyn, an orphan he lost contact with
when he left New York City as a child. Will happiness in love ever
come to Dane - or will the roving Tag Moran gang bring his hopes to
a dark end?
Showdown in Cheyenne
1880. The frontier is uneasy. Tag Moran and his vicious gang are
roving the West, robbing banks and stagecoaches. Dr. Dane Logan, a
former street waif adopted by a doctor's family in Cheyenne, is
gaining renown for his delicate surgical skill. Dane's situation
becomes precarious when an unfortunate death turns Tag into his
bitter enemy. If outlaws come between the tall young surgeon and
his childhood love, who'll be left to see another sunrise?
Story Behind the Book
Always planning ahead for what we will write for Multnomah
Publishers, JoAnna and I decided to follow the ORPHAN TRAIN trilogy
with one about a medical doctor in the Old West, so we came up with
the idea of a trilogy called FRONTIER DOCTOR. We introduced a
teenage boy in the final ORPHAN TRAIN book who has a burning desire
to one day become a physician and surgeon. This first book in this
trilogy keys in on this young prospective doctor. Seeing history
through this young doctor's eyes will deeply touch your heart and
make these books impossible to set down. We also think you'll find
this new trilogy filled with our faith--gained from so many years
of serving the Lord and trusting His written Word.
When 62 orphans and abandoned children leave New York City on a
train headed out West, they have no idea what to expect. Will they
get separated from their friends or siblings? Will their new
families love them? Will a family even pick them at all? Future
events are wilder than any of them could imagine -- ranging from
kidnappings and whippings to stowing away on wagon trains, from
starting orphanages of their own to serving as missionaries to the
Apaches. No matter what, their paths are being watched by someone
who cares about and carefully plans all their tomorrows.
Romance and revulsion, distance and determination frame a story
that spans the continent in the late 1800s. McClain Reardon had
saved ten-year-old Rya's life when the fugitive John Wilkes Booth
held her at gunpoint in Virginia. Reuniting with McClain years
later on the wagon trail to California, lovely Rya falls in love
with her lifelong hero, and they plan to get married. But there is
one dark shadow on this bright future: a sore old suitor's
merciless harassment. Even though the Reardons have found true
love, separation seems unavoidable. Trusting God is crucial when
there is so little time...
Romance and revenge, hot tempers, and cold feet frame a gripping
story set in rural Elkton, Idaho, in the 1860s. Young Jordan Shaw
angers easily and lives wildly, experiencing prison and kidnapping
before his family attempts to tame him with marriage. To avoid
their choice, he seeks a mail order bride, pretty Diana Morrow, who
suffers the abuse of a violent father before escaping her
tumultuous family home. When Diana arrives in Elkton and finds
Jordan suddenly missing, will a handsome distraction change her
destiny? How three young people's paths entwine -- and how God
meets each deep need with sufficient grace -- make this riveting
story both vastly entertaining and faith-inspiring.
Shaken by events in the closing days of the Civil War, young Dr.
Quint Roberts flees the Union army to start a new life in Bozeman,
Montana. In this seventh installment of the bestselling Mail Order
Bride series, the challenge of reconstructing relationship losses
is explored. When his brother is killed, Dr. Quint suddenly finds
himself responsible for three young children. Can he alone provide
for their needs? Annamarie Taylor -- a bereaved Southern belle in
Atlanta -- also searches for answers to the age-old question, "Is
anything too hard for the Lord?"
In this sixth installment in the popular Mail Order Bride series,
Dorianne DeFeo is a lovely, loyal daughter to widower Franco DeFeo,
who works on the docks in Brooklyn. When Franco catches two fellow
workers smuggling diamonds, they stab him and he dies in Dori's
arms. Persevering through her grief, Dori finds her employment
opportunities diminishing and finally answers an ad from Arizona
lawman Stone McKenna for a mail-order bride. Traveling west, Dori
experiences another shock, and her tired mind shields her from more
hurt with a psychologically induced blindness. Will Stone still
want his bride now that she's blind? Will the young couple let God
penetrate their pain? Can a miracle accomplish what medicine can't?
Together Dori and Stone await the daybreak in the darkness of their
lives.
In this fifth installment of the bestselling Mail Order Bride
series, two young couples seek freedom and love amidst slavery-rich
Charleston, South Carolina. When nineteen-year-old Benjamin arrives
from South Africa, he is scheduled to be sold into slavery -- but
is set free by a Christian who takes him in as a paid worker. The
man's son, Dan Johnson, befriends Benjamin, and the two make plans
to start a cattle ranch in Texas. With bold dreams and the support
and courage of their mail order brides, they struggle against
bigotry and hatred to find their dream of happiness.
Kathleen O'Malley Stallworth a mail order bride? Not likely! But
the Lord works in mysterious ways. Her parents and siblings died in
the great Chicago fire; her husband was killed by a mugger; now her
fabulously wealthy in-laws have taken her daughter Megan from her,
claiming she's not fit to be a mother. In a newspaper ad for a mail
order bride, Kathleen sees a chance to seek revenge on the
Stallworth family. Instead, her westward adventure transforms her
world and restores her faith. She returns to Chicago to fight for
Megan but soon discovers God has prepared a victory she could never
have imagined.
