Classic creature comedy horror directed by Joe Dante and produced
by Steven Spielberg. When Billy Peltzer (Zach Gilligan) is given
the cute and friendly little Mogwai, Gizmo (voiced by Howie
Mandel), for Christmas, he is told never to expose it to bright
light, get it wet or ever feed it after midnight. But one night
when a glass of water is accidentally spilled over little Gizmo,
Billy soon finds out why he was told to follow this advice as Gizmo
begins to convulse, producing five new Mogwai. As Billy and his
science teacher, Mr. Hanson (Glynn Turman), then seek to find out
more about the creatures, a series of events lead to the escape of
a number of them; and due to their heightened intelligence they
know exactly how to replicate themselves. Soon after, the town is
overrun by a new breed of Mogwai - the 'Gremlins' - who are
menacing little reptilian creatures, and far from friendly.
Dee Dee Ramone doesn't quite know what he's getting himself into
when he and his wife Barbara move into the Chelsea Hotel with their
dog Banfield. The room he's staying in might be the very room where
his old friend Sid stabbed Nancy.Dee Dee spends most of his time
trying to score drugs and walking Banfield, with whom he can
magically communicate. Meanwhile, he can't stand his neighbours and
though he shies away from violence, he wishes everyone were six
feet under. Dee Dee gets involved with the transvestite lover of
one of his gay fellow addicts. When Barbara finds out, things get
out of hand. All the while Dee Dee is tormented by the living and
dead demons that plague the hotel, along with the ghosts of his old
dead punk rock friends Sid Vicious, Johnny Thunders, and Stiv
Bators. And that's when the Devil himself decides to join the
party...
The career of towering, handsome actor Christopher Lee has
stretched over half a century in every sort of film from comedy to
horror. He has assumed such diverse roles as the Man With the
Golden Gun, Frankenstein's monster, Fu Manchu, Sherlock Holmes, and
Dr. Catheter (from ""Gremlins 2""). From ""Corridor of Mirrors"" in
1948 to ""Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones"" in 2002,
this reference book covers 166 of Lee's theatrical feature films in
detail. Each entry provides all production information (including
year of release, studio, running time, and location), full credits
for cast and crew, a synopsis of the film, and a critical analysis
of the film and Lee's involvement, with a detailed account of its
making and commentary drawn from some thirty hours of interviews
with Lee himself. Each entry also places the film within the
context of Lee's career and discusses the director and other
significant figures. Two appendices list Lee's television feature
films and miniseries and Lee's short films, with brief credits and
Lee's role in each. The work concludes with an afterword by
Christopher Lee. Photographs from the actor's private collection
are included in the title.

Over more than six decades and 200 films, supreme movie villain
John Carradine defined the job of the character actor, running the
gamut from preacher Casey of ""The Grapes of Wrath"" to his classic
Count Dracula of ""House of Frankenstein"" and ""House of
Dracula"". But for every Prisoner of Shark Island or Jesse James,
Carradine - who also did great work on Broadway and the classical
theater (he produced, directed and starred in Hamlet) - hammed it
up in scores of ""B"" and ""C"" horror and exploitation films,
developing the while quite a reputation for scandal. Through it
all, though, he remained a survivor and a true professional. This is
the first ever work devoted exclusively to the films of John
Carradine. In addition to the comprehensive filmography, there is a
biography of Carradine (contributed by Gregory Mank), commentary on
the man by indie film director Fred Olen Ray (who helmed many
latter-day Carradine movies), and an interesting piece by director
Joe Dante, who writes about Carradine's involvement in Dante's 1981
werewolf movie ""The Howling"".
Both Gremlins adventures are collected on this double bill. In the
first film an eccentric inventor brings an unusual Christmas gift
home for his son Billy (Zach Galligan): a cute, real life teddy
bear called Mogwai, obtained from a Chinese trinket store. Upon
purchase, the shopowner offers two strict warnings: don't let
Mogwai come into contact with water; and don't feed him after
midnight. Inevitably, both these stipulations are ignored, and the
cuddly creature begins to spawn some distinctly unruly offspring.
In the sequel, Zach Galligan, Phoebe Cates and Gizmo return (the
loveable Mogwai who spawns nasty Gremlins when wet), but this time
Gizmo is in danger of dissection by a fiendish doctor (Christopher
Lee). On his escape, he gets a dousing and before long the
uncontrollable Gremlins (this time in mutated form) are back and
wreaking havoc.

Joe Dante directs this late 1980s comedy horror starring Tom Hanks
and Bruce Dern. Life is pleasant, if dull, in the suburb of
Hinckley Hills until the weird Klopeks move in next door to Ray
Peterson (Hanks). When Ray decides to spend his week's vacation
relaxing at home, he soon allows himself to be persuaded by his
other neighbours that the Klopeks are in fact marauding killers,
and joins in the suburbanites' investigation. The film also stars
Carrie Fisher and Corey Feldman.
Gremlins:
From producer Steven Spielberg and director Joe Dante, a grim fairytale introducing a new creature unlike any ever seen before - the funny, clever, cute and extremely dangerous Mogwai. Warning: Don't ever get them wet. Keep them out of bright light...it will kill them. But the most important thing, the one you must never forget, no matter how much they beg, never feed them after midnight.
Gremlins 2:
The rules are the same but the laughs are bigger and the thrills are better. This time Billy and everyone's favourite Mogwai, Gizmo, must face off against a new batch of Gremlins that definitely think New York is their kind of town.
The legendary golf instructional, available again. This is, along with Harvey Penick's Little Red Book, THE book Golf professionals turn to.
"Thirty years ago I was recommending Joe Dante's book The Four Magic Moves To Winning Golf as a must read for aspiring PGA professionals. What Dante said in '62 has influenced many of the game's finest teachers. Dante was a visionary."--Gary Wiren, author of New Golf Mind
When published, The Four Magic Moves To Winning Golf radically changed the way many players thought about the golf swing. Dante's system showed how simple it was to improve one's game, and at the same time gave the golfer one of the most comprehensive analyses of swing mechanics ever published. Now, thirty-three years after its original publication, Main Street is proud to reissue this classic instructional. Dante begins by sweeping out all the misconceptions of the game. "If good golf is to be learned and the poor player is to improve, a purging must take place, painful as it may be." Dante discusses a few basics of grip and stance, and then he gets to the heart of his book, the four magic moves. As he reveals each of the moves, Dante focuses on the physical checkpoints so that any golfer can make sure that his or her swing is on the right track.
The Four Magic Moves To Winning Golf is straightforward and easy to understand, yet unlike other golf books it is irreverent and audacious in its approach to mastering the game. The publication of this rediscovered classic is sure to establish Joe Dante's reputation as one of golf's greatest teachers.
