The present voLume finaLizes the coverage of mononucLear organocopper compounds with Ligands bonded by one carbon atom. As structuraL eLucidation has not yet received much attention in organocopper chemistry and the aggregation of most products is unknown, the term" mononucLear" has been used as expLained in .. Organocopper Compounds" 1, pp. 3/4. Compounds with aLkyL, aLkenyL, and aryL Ligands have aLready been described in VoL- umes 1 (pubLished in 1985) and 2 (pubLished in 1983). The present VoLume 3 contains aLL compounds with aLkynyL, carbonyL, isocyanide, and additionaL Ligands bonded by one carbon atom. The Largest part of this voLume deaLs with copper acetyLides which are wideLy used as reagents in organic syntheses aLthough many of them are onLy poorLy characterized. For abbreviations and dimensions used throughout this voLume, see p. X. Frankfurt, September 1986 Johannes FusseL Remarks on Abbreviations and Dimensions Most compounds and reagents in this volume are presented in tables. Unless otherwise stated, they are arranged in the tables according to the numbers of C atoms in the empirical formula. For the sake of conciseness, some abbreviations are used and some dimensions are omitted in the tables. This necessitates the following clarification. Geometrie isomers are designated according to the IUPAC rules. Structural labels are missing when authors fail to report structural details. Temperatures are given in C, otherwise K stands for Kelvin. Abbreviations used with temperatures are m.p. for melting point, b.p. for boiling point, and dec. for decomposition.
The present volume, "Organoosmium Compounds" 8 6, systematically covers the litera ture through 1992, including many later references. This volume is the first published of Series 8. This series is devoted to compounds containing two or more osmium atoms. The volume forms a unit with" Organoosmium Compounds" 8 5 (in preparation). 80th volumes deal with trinuclear compounds with ligands other than CO which are bonded to Os by one carbon atom ("1L ligands "), regardless of whether the ligand is additionally coordinated to Os by heteroatoms. Generally CO groups are additional ligands. As is usual in the organometallic Gmelin series, the term "trinuclear" means three osmium atoms in the molecule without regard to any additional metals that may be present. The content and the subdivision of both volumes are described on p. 1. Volume 85 will deal with homometallic compounds in which the bonding C atom of the leading 1L ligand is bonded to Os by one non-bridging Os-C bond. The first part of the present volume, 86, is devoted to homometallic compounds in which the bonding C atom of the 1L ligand bridges two or three Os atoms. A second part deals with all heterometallic compounds with 1L ligands other than CO. An Empirical Formula Index and a Ligand Formula Index for both volumes 8 5 and 86 will be included in volume 8 5. For abbreviations and dimensions used throughout this volume, see p. X."
Organocopper reagents have found wide use in synthetic organic chemistry during the past few decades. Structural elucidation has not yet received much attention in organocopper chemistry and the aggregation of most products is unknown. This last volume brings to an end the series of organocopper compounds and contains an Empirical Formula and Ligand Formula Index for about 3000 organocopper compounds and reagents described in Parts 1 to 4.
"Organoiron Compounds" 8 13 (present volume) systematicaLLy covers the Literature through the end of 1986, and includes additional references up to 1988. The volume continues Series 8 (volumes 81 to 812 already pubLished) on the mononucle- ar organoiron compounds, whereas Series A (volumes A 1 to A8 already pubLished) is de- voted to the ferrocenes and Series C (volumes C1 to C5 and C7 already pubLished) treats organoiron compounds with two or more Fe atoms in the molecule. Se ries 8 so far includes mononuclear organoiron compounds as follows: "Eisen-Organische Verbindungen" 8 1 (1976), 82 (1978), 83 (1979) Sections 1 to 1.1.4.8 on cr-compounds and carbonyl compounds. "Eisen-Organische Verbindungen" 84 (1978) Sections 1.1.5 to 1.2.3.2.3 on isonitrile and carbene compounds and on compounds with Ligands bonded by two C atoms eL Ligands) to the Fe atom. "Eisen-Organische Verbindungen" 85 (1978) Sections 1.3 to 1.3.6 on compounds with Ligands bonded by three C atoms (3L Ligands) to the Fe atom. "Organoiron Compounds" 86 (1981),87 (1981),88 (1985),89 (1985),810 (1986) Sections 1.4 to 1.4.3.4 on compounds with Ligands bonded by four C atoms (4L ligands) to the Fe atom. "Organoiron Compounds" 811 (1983),812 (1984) Sections 1.5 to 1.5.2.3.16.1.5 on compounds with Ligands bonded by five C atoms (5L Ligands) to the Fe atom up to the first subsections concerning compounds of the type C5H5Fe(COhR.
