County, Virginia, and its early white settlers, and native
inhabitants. The book provides detailed biographical and
genealogical sketches of many residents, and detailed genealogical
information on the Bennett and Boddie families in the Carolinas and
Virginia. Approximatley 190 pages are devoted to Wills, Deeds, Land
Grants, Quit Tax Rolls, and a Roster of County Officers.
Supplementing this massive work, are three indexes, which address

lower Tidewater and Southside regions are among the most frequently
consulted works on that area. The first volume in this valuable
two-volume set contains lineages of families from the early
