Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not
used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad
quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are
images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to
keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the
original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain
imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made
available for future generations to enjoy.
Mephibosheth's life was devastated. His father, Jonathan, was
killed in battle alongside his grandfather, King Saul. But he would
not be able to take his grandfather's throne. Running in terror
after the news of their death, Mephibosheth's nanny drops him and
his ankles are broken, making him lame for life. Rejected,
abandoned and ashamed, the prince of Israel goes into hiding for
years until he is called to Jerusalem to see the king. What happens
to Mephibosheth will change his life forever. In this story, we are
invited on a journey to find ourselves. We all have been rejected,
abused, ashamed and lost at different points in our lives,
naturally and spiritually. For some of us, the power of rejection,
shame and accusation have shaped how we look at ourselves and
others. It can limit us just as powerfully as if we were crippled.
In The Embrace of Grace, author John Carnes takes us on a journey
into the story of Mephibosheth to discover ourselves and the
freedom that comes when we learn our real identity in Christ. Our
lives no longer have to be bound and limited by the fears of
rejection and shame. We can have a relationship with God our King,
and defeat the accusations and fear that has held us back. We can
and are called to walk in victory, because our King has called us
from "rejection to adoption."
