The last chapter rounds out the coverage with a brief look ahead towards future analytical issues that will likely arise in the field of surrogate tissue analysis. The book is both an introduction to the various "omic" technologies in this young field and a fundamental reference for scientists interested in identifying biomarkers in surrogate tissues.

Dom Felice Vaggioli wrote this autobiography between 1909 and 1911, after the publication in Italy of his History of New Zealand and its Inhabitants. One of the first Benedictine monks to be sent to New Zealand, he arrived in 1879 and returned home in 1887, having worked in Gisbourne, Auckland and the Coromandel. A Deserter's Adventures is Vaggioli's title, as he was a concientious objector, or "draft-dodger," as a young monk and so termed himself "a deserter." This is typical of the individual who emerges from these pages: always questioning, and always applying a strong sense of justice and fine logic to the many dilemmas he found himself in as a missionary priest in New Zealand.

The Doctor (William Hartnell), Ian (William Russell), Barbara (Jacqueline Hill) and Susan (Carol Ann Ford) find themselves stranded in Aztec times when the TARDIS is trapped in a tomb. Proclaimed a goddess by the Aztec priests, Barbara attempts to change the course of history by forbidding the human sacrifices which are part of the Aztecs' religion. It is up to the Doctor to find a way back into the tomb and recover the TARDIS, before the priest Tlotoxl (John Ringham) unmasks Barbara.
