First published in 1998, the aim of this catalogue is to help students, researchers and librarians determine the UK locations of over 2,000 music periodical titles held in public, academic and national libraries. Over 220 libraries in the UK have been surveyed, from St. Austell to Aberdeen, Aberystwyth to Brighton. Each catalogue entry provides detailed information on library holdings, and full bibliographic details of periodical titles, including ISSNs. The main catalogue is preceded by an address list, and by a preface outlining the history of music periodicals in Britain, together with statistical tables.
Despite the immense popularity of his works for musical theater in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Andre Messager has, to a large extent, been neglected by contemporary musicologists and musicians outside France. This book offers a new appraisal of Messager's life and work, correcting errors perpetuated in previous bibliographies, and documenting the broad scope of his contributions as a composer, conductor, and artistic director of several of the great operatic companies of Paris and London. A biographical sketch, the first ever written in English, is followed by a comprehensive list of works that supplies details of first performances, their publication, and principal reviews. The list covers songs and instrumental compositions, as well as operettas and other works for the stage. The bibliography lists not only titles that deal specifically with Messager but also a number of general works that may prove useful in the study of the period in which Messager lived and worked. Archival materials are listed together with more generally available printed sources. The volume includes a discography, appendices, and an index. Providing comprehensive, up-to-date information in a convenient format, this bio-bibliography will be a valuable research tool for studies of French music of the period.

There have been impressive improvements in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer in recent decades. In economically advantaged countries with well-developed healthcare systems over 50% of all cancer patients achieve long term survival and are probably cured. Not only has survival improved radically for cancer patients but also there has been an increasing focus on the quality of patient's lives, on improving the patient experience of care and on developing effective support for the very many cancer survivors. Despite the progress in cancer treatment, unfortunately a substantial number of cancer patients will still ultimately die of their disease. For many this will follow periods of successful treatment which results in good remissions and good quality of life. Helping patients to make the right choices about their care towards the end of their lives is one of the greatest and most challenging responsibilities of all healthcare professionals. Legal change on the provision of assisted dying by healthcare professionals has occurred in a substantial number of jurisdictions. This work brings together contributions on end of life choices from experienced professionals from oncology disciplines, palliative care, law, nurses and professions allied to medicine. The goals are: * To better inform cancer care professionals and the wider community about developments in choices in end of life care for cancer patients internationally. * To better answer questions from patients and respond to requests from patients, including questions about and requests for assisted dying in countries where it is legal to do so. * To have a balanced and well informed dialogue about choices available to patients without developing a formal policy position on change in law. * To provide a basis of information for future educational activities.
