-- What is the true nature of water and does it have memory? -- By
working with the rhythm and flow of water, can we increase its
life-giving power? Water is not only fundamental to life but is
essential for the cycles and changes in nature. John Wilkes argues
as well that water is the universal bearer of whatever character we
put into it. For this reason the way we treat water is of crucial
importance to our health, and to the well-being of our planet.
Working with his remarkable invention, the Flowform, Wilkes has
uncovered hidden secrets of the world of water, and at the same
time created an artform of great beauty. His lifetime of applied
research into rhythms and water, fully revealed in this book for
the first time, has startling implications for such topical issues
as farming and irrigation; food production and processing; water
treatment and recycling; and health and cosmetic products. This
ground-breaking book is lavishly illustrated to show both the
beauty of the Flowform and the wide range of its applications.
Each walk is arranged chronologically, and has a major historical
theme. Together, they take the walker through 4,000 years of
Kentish history. The introduction shows how each of the walks fits
into the overall history of the county, a history that is very much
shaped by Kent's proximity to Europe. For through migration, trade
and invasion, Kent has had close contact with the continent
throughout its history. As with all walking books detailed
directions are given, including parking convenient stopping or
resting places, and suggested diversions or alternatives. The book
is sure to appeal to locals and tourist alike.
College-university relationships, the role of examinations, the
politics of curriculum: papers amplify the picture of developments
in Cambridge during the century. It was in the 19th and early 20th
centuries that Cambridge, characterised in the previous century as
a place of indolence and complacency, underwent the changes which
produced the institutional structures which persist today. Foremost
among them was the rise of mathematics as the dominant subject
within the university, with the introduction of the Classical
Tripos in 1824, and Moral and Natural Sciences Triposes in 1851.
Responding to this, Trinity was notable in preparing its students
for honours examinations, which came to seem rather like athletics
competitions, by working them hard at college examinations. The
admission of women and dissenters in the 1860s and 1870s was a
majorchange ushered in by the Royal Commission of 1850, which
finally brought the colleges out of the middle ages and
strengthened the position of the university, at the same time
laying the foundations of the new system of lectures and
supervisions. Contributors: JUNE BARROW-GREEN, MARY BEARD, JOHN R.

The poor quality of water, as well as its restricted supply and
availability, is one of the biggest challenges of our time, with
presently two-fifth's of the world's population unable to find
adequate fresh water for essential usage. Over 40 years' research
has been carried out on the positive effects that rhythms and
specific water flow has on water's capacity to support life.
Energizing Water presents this cutting-edge research to the general
and professional reader at a time when interest in finding
solutions to water's huge worldwide problems is growing rapidly.
Three aspects determine water quality: its chemical constituents
(including its oxygen levels); its organic aspects (with the danger
of contamination by effluent, pathogens and algae); and its
'energetic' nature. The latter facet has been recognized from time
immemorial by traditional societies, who have developed their own
sciences in relation to water quality, using terms such as prana
and chi for energy. Now, through the introduction of quantum
physics into the life sciences, modern science is beginning to
accept this concept, measuring energy as light emission. Research
into energetic water quality - and particularly into the creation
of moulded surfaces that support biological purification of the
chemical and organic elements, as well as enlivening the energetic
attributes - goes back to George Adams' and John Wilkes' pioneering
work in the 1960s. The invention of Flowform technology in 1970
carried this research further, providing the world with one of the
first modern-day, biomimicry eco-technologies. This creative
technology applies nature's best methods to produce extraordinary
results, and this book outlines the background story on research
and application of the Flowform method today.
Properties and Applications of Diamond provides a unique

Working with babies and children is most successful when therapists
have a complete understanding and overview of all appropriate
treatment options, and the effects of early influences on child
health and development. This book shows therapists how to consider
these factors in order to work more effectively within their
individual areas of expertise. Contributors from a wide range of
disciplines, including Ann Diamond Weinstein, Michael Shea, Carolyn
Goh, Graham Kennedy, Matthew Appleton, David Haas, Thomas Harms,
Franz Ruppert, Anita Hegerty and Kate Rosati, explore the influence
of pregnancy, birth and family dynamics on the physical and mental
health of babies and children. They show how these factors relate
to common complaints, such as excessive and different types of
crying, chronic illnesses and poor immune systems, and behavioural
and attachment issues, and how complementary approaches can be best
applied to treat these issues. This book also offers helpful advice
for working within multidisciplinary teams. Illustrated with case
studies and including examples from current research, this book is
a valuable resource for therapists from diverse disciplines.
This is a comprehensive and empowering guide to facilitating a
positive pregnancy and birth experience, and ensuring lasting
emotional and physical health for mother and baby. Countering
increasingly medicalized attitudes towards pregnancy and birth
among many healthcare providers, this research-based book discusses
the benefits of a more natural approach. It reveals the often
undisclosed effects on a child's long-term development of accepted
medical practices, such as induction, C-section, surgical
interventions and pain-relief medications. It offers advice on how
these practices can be avoided, for example with techniques to
encourage optimal fetal positioning, by optimising the birth
environment, and through drug-free pain management methods.
Ultimately, it enables practitioners to support parents in
informed, confident decision-making by giving a balanced account of
the complex array of options available throughout pregnancy and
birth. With invaluable contributions from midwives, doulas,
mothers, and doctors, and tried-and-tested advice on sleep,
exercise, diet and therapies, this will a very useful reference for
anyone working with women and babies. The information will also be
relevant to prospective and new parents.
