Featuring cameo appearances from Johnny Depp and Jerzy Skolimowski, the LA section of the movie follows Richard as he attempts to win Barbara over and realise his ambitions of becoming a screenwriter in the unforgiving environs of Hollywood.

Bruce Robinson writes and directs this drama based on the debut novel of Hunter S. Thompson. Johnny Depp, who also co-produces the film, stars as burned-out vagrant freelance journalist Paul Kemp, who leaves his life in New York behind and heads off south to work for a local newspaper in San Juan, Puerto Rico. There he adopts the debauched, liquor-soaked lifestyle of Hemingway's 'Lost Generation' and develops an unhealthy obsession with Chenault (Amber Heard), the beautiful fiancee of shady property developer Sanderson (Aaron Eckhart).

When American teenager Nancy Thompson (Heather Langenkamp) begins to suffer from nightmares, she discovers that many of her friends are having similarly disturbed nights' sleep. Their dreams are haunted by the hideously scarred former child murderer Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) who, it soon transpires, has the power to kill them in their sleep. Freddy is out to exact his revenge on the children of those who burned him alive in retribution for his crimes. The only way to avoid Freddy's reprisals is to avoid sleep, but Nancy knows that she can't stay awake for ever.

A gothic love story from Tim Burton. When Avon lady Peg Boggs (Dianne Wiest) pays a call to the local castle, she discovers Edward (Johnny Depp) - a half-finished, mechanical boy with scissors for hands. She takes him home to her suburban neighbourhood, where his exotic appeal and prodigious topiary skills make him a celebrity. However, prejudice against the unfamiliar soon takes its toll on the shy misfit.

After his parents' death, fish counter Axel Backmar (Johnny Depp) travels to Arizona for the wedding of his car dealer uncle, Leo Sweetie (Jerry Lewis). Feeling responsible for Axel, Leo offers to take him into the family business. While working at the car showroom, Axel meets older woman Elaine (Faye Dunaway) and her stepdaughter, Grace (Lili Taylor). Axel alienates his uncle by beginning an affair with Elaine, who is obsessed with building a functioning aircraft, and he also becomes caught up in the deteriorating relationship between her and Grace.
