The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything.
But when optimistic Officer Judy Hopps arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy.
Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde, to solve the mystery.
Across Europe, restorative justice has gained acceptance as a way
of resolving disputes and mitigating the harm of crime in the
community. Practitioners have also begun to coordinate restorative
meetings in prisons in an effort to reduce the harms of
victimisation and to encourage desistance from crime. This book
provides a comprehensive evaluation of Building Bridges, a
programme of restorative meetings between victims and prisoners in
seven European countries. The authors first describe how
participation affected victims and offenders. Then, through case
studies in three countries, they frame the social-ecological
contexts of the programmes, discussing the organisational and
socio-political factors that influenced how these programmes were
delivered and what is necessary for them to be sustained. Funded by
the European Commission, this evaluation is essential reading for
practitioners and policy-makers interested in restorative justice
and prisons. It offers important insights into the potential of
restorative approaches for victims and offenders and reveals the
organisational and cultural obstacles to be overcome before
restorative justice is a regular feature of prisons in Europe.
A fun, concise and attractive introduction to a fascinating and
challenging subject. This is the ideal book for secondary school
students and undergraduate students coming to theology for the
first time, or indeed for anyone who just doesn't know where to
start. The book examines key thinkers from the New Testament to
Feminist Theology. It starts by considering some of the authors of
New Testament writings and then focuses on representatives of the
western tradition of theological speculation. Nearly half the work
concentrates on 20th century thinkers and problems. It puts them in
their historical, social and cultural settings, emphasizing that
theology is as much a reflection on the world we live in as it is
on God. Technical terms are explained in simple language throughout
the text. This makes the book an ideal reference tool for a clear
first overview of theology.
This book explores the history of Pittsburghese, the language of
the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area as it is imagined and used by
Pittsburghers. Pittburghese is linked to local identity so strongly
that it is alluded to almost every time people talk about what
Pittsburgh is like, or what it means to be a Pittsburgher. But what
happened during the second half of the 20th century to reshape a
largely unnoticed way of speaking into this highly visible urban
"dialect"? In this book, sociolinguist Barbara Johnstone focuses on
this question. Treating Pittsburghese as a cultural product of
talk, writing, and other forms of social practice, Johnstone shows
how non-standard pronunciations, words, and bits of grammar used in
the Pittsburgh area were taken up into a repertoire of words and
phrases and a vocal style that has become one of the most resonant
symbols of local identity in the United States today.

The people who lived at Brant's Ford, or in the countryside around
it, have made a considerable contribution to Canadian history.
Since Joseph Brant first established himself and the Indians of the
Six Nations, there in 1784, the region has been affected by, and
has reacted to, great events in Europe and North America, and in
the process has grown from a precarious pioneer settlement to a
well-developed agricultural and industrial society. This book is an
account of nearly two centuries of economic and social change in
the Brant area. The author records the effects of these changes on
Indian and non-Indian alike and relates them to developments in
Ontario and the rest of Canada. He gives much attention to such
notables as Joseph Brant himself, Hiram 'King' Capron (the founder
of the town of Paris), George Brown, the politician-turned-farmer,
and his 'agricultural factory', Alexander Graham Bell, Pauline
Johnson, Sara Jeannette Duncan, and to such industrial and
philanthropic families as the Veritys and the Cockshutts. This book
is published under the auspices of the Ontario Historical Society.
It is one that everyone interested in Canadian history will want to
read.

Dr. Vic finds himself being investigated by the Louisiana Tax Board
and things soon get out of hand. When Jack skips town, AJ realises

Heinrich Schutz (1585-1672) was the most important and influential
German composer of the seventeenth century. Director of music at
the electoral Saxon court in Dresden, he was lauded by his German
contemporaries as "the father of our modern music," as "the Orpheus
of our time." Yet despite the esteem in which his music is still
held today, Schutz himself and the rich cultural environment in
which he lived continue to be little known or understood beyond the
linguistic borders of his native Germany.
Drawing on original manuscript and print sources, A Heinrich Schutz
Reader brings the composer to life through more than 150 documents
by or about Heinrich Schutz, from his earliest studies under
Giovanni Gabrieli to accounts of his final hours. Editor and
translator Gregory S. Johnston penetrates the archaic script,
confronts the haphazard orthography and obsolete vocabulary, and
untangles the knotted grammatical constructions and syntax to
produce translations that allow English speakers, as never before,
to engage the composer directly.
Most of the German, Latin and Italian documents included in this
volume appear for the first time in English translation. A number
of these texts have not even been printed in their original
language. Dedications and prefaces of his printed music, letters
and memoranda, poetry and petitions, travel passes and contracts,
all offer immediate and unabridged access to the composer's life.
To habituate the reader ever more in Schutz's world, the entries
are richly annotated with biographical detail; clarifications of
professional relationships and ancestral lines; information on
geographic regions, domains, cities, courts and institutions; and
references to biblical, classical and contemporary literary
sources.
Johnston opens a door for researchers and scholars across a broad
range of disciplines, and at the same time provides an historical
complement and literary companion for anyone who has come to
appreciate the beauty of Schutz's music."
A primary objective in a first course in mechanics is to help
develop a student's ability first to analyze problems in a simple
and logical manner, and then to apply basic principles to their
solutions. A strong conceptual understanding of these basic
mechanics principles is essential for successfully solving
mechanics problems. This edition of Vector Mechanics for Engineers
will help instructors achieve these goals. Continuing in the spirit
of its successful previous editions, this edition provides
conceptually accurate and thorough coverage together with a
significant refreshment of the exercise sets and online delivery of
homework problems to your students. The 12th edition has new case
studies and enhancements in the text and in Connect. The hallmark
of the Beer-Johnston series has been the problem sets. This edition
is no different. Over 650 of the homework problems in the text are
new or revised. One of the characteristics of the approach used in
this book is that mechanics of particles is clearly separated from
the mechanics of rigid bodies. This approach makes it possible to
consider simple practical applications at an early stage and to
postpone the introduction of the more difficult concepts.
Additionally, Connect has over 100 Free-Body Diagram Tool Problems
and Process-Oriented Problems. McGraw-Hill's Connect, is also
available. Connect is the only integrated learning system that
empowers students by continuously adapting to deliver precisely
what they need, when they need it, how they need it, so that class
time is more effective. Connect allows the professor to assign
homework, quizzes, and tests easily and automatically grades and
records the scores of the student's work. Problems are randomized
to prevent sharing of answers an may also have a "multi-step
solution" which helps move the students' learning along if they
experience difficulty.

Students of the Civil War know Franklin, Tennessee, for the major
battle that happened here, but there is a lot more to the story. In
fact, Main Street in Franklin is a glimpse into 250 years of
history. Within a few blocks surrounding the public square, some of
the city's original buildings now house the newest and most popular
shops, restaurants, and entertainment venues in Middle Tennessee.
Franklin has been a center for agriculture and manufacturing. It is
a place where families can enjoy small-town life on the interstate.
It is home to a college. It has always been the seat of Williamson
County. Franklin's small businesses have a habit of sticking around
for decades, often passing through generations of the same family.
Franklin is as quaint and picturesque as it is exciting and
progressive, because it continues to attract the kind of people who
have always made it that way.

Mount Rainier rises 14,410 feet above sea level and can be seen on
any given day by over three million people and from over 100 miles
away. It is America's fifth national park, established in 1899. The
mountain is an active but currently dormant volcano. With 25 named
glaciers, 50 smaller unnamed glaciers, and numerous perennial
snowfields, Mount Rainier boasts the largest glacier system in the
continental United States. In addition to the glacier zone, the
park has alpine and subalpine forest and subtropical rain forest.
Each zone has its own unique ecology of plants and animals. The
vistas of and from the mountain are some of the most spectacular in
all of the park system.
