ROSIE is a non fiction story in the FREEDOG series. The first book, FREEDOG, introduces Jazz, Mr. Pease's Labrador mix, who has accompanied the author in his travels all over the country. This first piece is a fictional account of Jazz's BIG TRIP "out there," where he breaks out on his own to discover what lays beyond the world of his master. ROSIE, in contrast is a true life story of the relationship between Jazz and an adorable long haired Dacschund named Rosie. It is written for a slightly older age group than FREEDOG, which is enjoyed by folks from 3 to 73. Early in the story Rosie is given the privilege to run free with Jazz through the woods. She delights in the freedom. But there is a price to freedom, and Rosie gets into some serious trouble. Will she survive the danger? Who will save her from the life threatening situation she encounters ? ROSIE is the first book to include sketches from the artistic pen of the author. Most are cartoon like sketches catching her in the defining outrageous postures that make her so adorable.
Free Dog is a story about the dog who, after seeing some nice places with his master, chooses to go out on his own to find out what is "out there." It is a journey that is told with pictures of this handsome Lab mix and some of his friends along the New England coastline, and out in the West in the mountains and in the desert. It covers the dreams, the challenges, and the fears he faces while roaming the country as a Free Dog.
