Discover the groundbreaking Korean YA
thriller, for fans of Squid Game, Black Mirror and The Hunger Games!
WHEN YOU'RE INSIDE, THE WHOLE WORLD IS
WATCHING . . .
Raised in a climate-ravaged, frozen world, every day is a struggle for
survival for Chobahm. Her only solace comes in the form of
twenty-four-hour reality television shows, streamed directly from
Snowglobe - the climate-controlled domed city at the heart of her
world, and the only warm place left on the planet.
The citizens of Snowglobe have everything: fame, fortune and, above
all, safety from the frigid wasteland outside their walls. In exchange,
their lives are broadcast to the less fortunate of their world, who
watch eagerly, hoping for the chance to one day become an actor
themselves and join their ranks.
Chobahm is one of the dreamers. But her life changes in an instant when
she is visited by two strangers from Snowglobe, who deliver
earth-shattering news: Goh Haeri, Snowglobe's biggest star has died -
and because of Chobahm's striking resemblance to her, she's been chosen
to take her place.
Given the chance of a lifetime, Chobahm agrees to enter Snowglobe and
take on Haeri's identity. Within the domed city's walls, she will
finally have the existence she's always dreamed of - but if life in
Snowglobe is so great, why did Haeri seem so desperate to escape it?
And when everyone around you is a performer, how can you ever know what
is reality, and what is created for the audience . . . ?
Published in English for the first
time from its original Korean, the critically-acclaimed Snowglobe is a
page-turning thriller with twists around every corner.
This contributed volume provides theoretical and empirical insights
into a variety of contemporary issues about inequality, geography,
and global value chains in today’s world, where global
disruptions are prevalent, globalization is being transformed, and
multinational enterprises (MNEs) are under pressure to promote
sustainability. Many challenges and tensions created by growing
inequality within and between countries, cities, and individuals,
coupled with recent disruptions in the global economy, beg
important questions regarding the role of MNEs. A valuable resource
for scholars and students in international business, the book
provides a richer understanding of how MNE activities are being
affected by the complex dynamics of the modern global business
environment and discusses what strategies they need to implement in
order to adapt to a changing world, while accounting for the
interests of a broader range of stakeholders. Â

While it may be attractive to view sensors as simple transducers
which convert physical quantities into electrical signals, the
truth of the matter is more complex. The engineer should have a
proper understanding of the physics involved in the conversion
process, including interactions with other measurable quantities. A
deep understanding of these interactions can be leveraged to apply
sensor fusion techniques to minimize noise and/or extract
additional information from sensor signals. Advances in
microcontroller and MEMS manufacturing, along with improved
internet connectivity, have enabled cost-effective wearable and
Internet of Things sensor applications. At the same time, machine
learning techniques have gone mainstream, so that those same
applications can now be more intelligent than ever before. This
book explores these topics in the context of a small set of sensor
types. We provide some basic understanding of sensor operation for
accelerometers, magnetometers, gyroscopes, and pressure sensors. We
show how information from these can be fused to provide estimates
of orientation. Then we explore the topics of machine learning and
sensor data analytics.

This book provides a thorough account of the current status of
achievements made in the area of soft X-Ray laser source
development and of the increasingly diverse applications being
demonstrated using such radiation sources. There is significant
effort worldwide to develop very bright, short duration radiation
sources in the X-Ray spectral region - driven by the multitude of
potential applications in all branches of science. This book
contains updates on several different approaches for comparative
purposes but concentrates on developments in the area of
laser-produced plasmas, whereby transient population inversion and
gain between ion states is pumped by optical lasers interacting
with pre-formed plasmas. Topics covered will include Laser-driven
XRLs, Collisional XRLs, Recombination XRLs, Transient Inversion
Collisional XRLs, Optical Field Ionization XRLs, Alternative XRL,
pumping schemes Theory and simulations of XRL gain media and beam
properties High order harmonic sources of XUV radiation,
Free-electron lasers and other accelerator based X-Ray sources,
X-Ray Laser drives, X-Ray optics and instrumentation Spectroscopy,
and other diagnostics of laser media Applications of XRLs.
The world consumes over 300 million tonnes of plastic each year.
But when did we start using plastic? And why? Where does all the
plastic waste go? Journey through the life cycle of plastic - how
plastics are produced and recycled, the many uses of plastics
throughout the last century, how our plastic use and pollution has
spiralled out of control, and what we can do about it.
