This edited collection analyzes the tensions, contradictions,
contributions, and new horizons generated and/or imposed by Netflix
within Spain’s audiovisual culture. This book provides invaluable
insight into how Netflix – first in its role as distributor and
then as content creator – has changed the audiovisual landscape
in Spain. It discusses how Netflix both challenges the traditional
method of categorizing film and television output by nationality,
while also examining how Spain is presented to other countries
through the Netflix catalogue and questioning what its chosen
output – light comedies, mystery/thrillers, narco-fiction, and
crime – means for Spain’s national brand. With chapters
addressing themes such as reproducibility, pan-Europeanism after
Brexit, gender representation, identity, and globalization, this
book explores how – under the influence of Netflix – Spain is
transitioning from an importer of audiovisual content to a center
of export. This book will appeal to students and scholars of Film
and Media Studies, Hispanic and Iberian Studies, and Spanish with a
specific interest in Spanish film, television, media, and culture,
and global media industries.

The volume represents presentations given at the 86th annual
meeting of the Psychometric Society, held virtually on July
19–23, 2021. About 500 individuals contributed paper
presentations, symposiums, poster presentations, pre-conference
workshops, keynote presentations, and invited presentations. Since
the 77th meeting, Springer has published the conference proceedings
volume from this annual meeting to allow presenters to share their
work and ideas with the wider research community, while still
undergoing a thorough review process. This proceedings covers a
diverse set of psychometric topics, including item response theory,
Bayesian models, reliability, longitudinal measures, and cognitive
diagnostic models.

In our increasingly multilingual modern world, understanding how
languages beyond the first are acquired and processed at a brain
level is essential to design evidence-based teaching, clinical
interventions and language policy. Written by a team of
world-leading experts in a wide range of disciplines within
cognitive science, this Handbook provides a comprehensive overview
of the study of third (and more) language acquisition and
processing. It features 30 approachable chapters covering topics
such as multilingual language acquisition, education, language
maintenance and language loss, multilingual code-switching, ageing
in the multilingual brain, and many more. Each chapter provides an
accessible overview of the state of the art in its topic, while
offering comprehensive access to the specialized literature,
through carefully curated citations. It also serves as a
methodological resource for researchers in the field, offering
chapters on methods such as case studies, corpora, artificial
language systems or statistical modelling of multilingual data.
