This book contains the best papers of the Sixth International Conference on Enterprise Information Systems (ICEIS 2004), held in Porto (Portugal) and organized by INSTICC (Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Communication and Control) in collaboration with PORTUCALENSE UNIVERSITY, who hosted the event. Following the route started in 1999, ICEIS has become a major point of contact between research scientists, engineers and practitioners on the area of business applications of information systems. This conference has received an increased interest every year, from especially from the international academic community, and it is now one of the world largest conferences in its area. This year, five simultaneous tracks were held, covering different aspects related to enterprise computing, including: "Databases and Information Systems Integration," "Artificial Intelligence and Decision Support Systems," "Information Systems Analysis and Specification," "Software Agents and Internet Computing" and "Human-Computer Interaction." The sections of this book reflect the conference tracks.
This book comprises the refereed papers together with the invited keynote papers, presented at the Second International Conference on Enterprise Information Systems. The conference was organised by the School of Computing at Staffordshire University, UK, and the Escola Superior de Tecnologia of Setubal, Portugal, in cooperation with the British Computer Society and the International Federation for Information Processing, Working Group 8.1. The purpose of this 2nd International Conference was to bring together researchers, engineers and practitioners interested in the advances in and business applications of information systems. The papers demonstrate the vitality and vibrancy of the field of Enterprise Information Systems. The research papers included here were selected from among 143 submissions from 32 countries in the following four areas: Enterprise Database Applications, Artificial Intelligence Applications and Decision Support Systems, Systems Analysis and Specification, and Internet and Electronic Commerce. Every paper had at least two reVIewers drawn from 10 countries. The papers included in this book were recommended by the reviewers. On behalf of the conference organising committee we would like to thank all the members of the Programme Committee for their work in reviewing and selecting the papers that appear in this volume. We would also like to thank all the authors who have submitted their papers to this conference, and would like to apologise to the authors that we were unable to include and wish them success next year.
The purpose of the 7th International Conference on Enterprise Information Systems (ICEIS) was to bring together researchers, engineers and practitioners interested in the advances and business applications of information systems. Five simultaneous tracks have been held, covering different aspects of Enterprise Information Systems Applications, including Enterprise Database Technology, Systems Integration, Artificial Intelligence, Decision Support Systems, Information Systems Analysis and Specification, Internet Computing, Electronic Commerce and Human Factors. ICEIS focuses on real world applications: therefore authors were asked to highlight the benefits of Information Technology for industry and services. During the conference, there was an interesting debate on how to solve business problems, using IT. Papers included in the book are the best papers presented at the ICEIS 2005 conference.
This book constitutes revised selected papers from the 18th International Conference on Enterprise Information Systems, ICEIS 2016, held in Rome, Italy, in April 2016. The 23 papers presented in this volume were carefully reviewed and selected from a total of 257 submissions to ICEIS 2016. The volume also contains one invited talk in full paper length. The papers selected to be included in this book contribute to the understanding of relevant trends of current research on enterprise information systems, including issues with regard to enterprise engineering, heterogeneous systems, security, software engineering, systems integration, business process management, human factors and affective computing, ubiquitous computing, social computing, knowledge management, and artificial intelligence.
This book presents Brazil as a country of continental dimensions. Its territory has a large variety of rock types, geological structures and climates. The country has a large variety of landscapes, such as the humid plains of the Amazon River, the dry plateaus of the semi-arid region or the subtropical mountains of the southern region. On the coast, some plateaus and mountains, like the Serra do Mar Mountain range, formed a significant barrier front to access the hinterland of Brazil. On the other side of these coastal plateaus and mountains, there is a large collection of other plateaus, mountains, plains and depressions little altered by human interference. Thus, Brazil has a unique variety of different landscapes and extraordinary geomorphological sites. The book invites readers to learn more about the beautiful Brazilian landscapes, their complexity and vastness.

This book contains a selection of the best papers from WEBIST 2008 (the Fourth International Conference on Web Information Systems and Technologies), held in Funchal, Madeira, in 2008, organized by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC), and co-sponsored by the Wo- flow Management Coalition (WfMC). The purpose of the WEBIST series of conferences is to bring together researchers, engineers and practitioners interested in the technological advances and business - plications of web-based information systems. The series focuses on four main topic areas, covering different aspects of web information systems, including internet te- nology; web interfaces and applications; society, e-business, and e-government; and e-learning. WEBIST 2008 received 238 paper submissions from more than 40 countries on all continents. A double-blind review process was enforced, with the help of more than 200 experts from the international Program Committee, each of them specialized in one of the main conference topic areas. After reviewing, 32 papers were selected to be published and presented as full papers and 64 additional papers, describing work-- progress, as short papers for oral presentation only. Furthermore, 58 papers were p- sented as posters. The full-paper acceptance ratio was 13%, and the total oral paper acceptance ratio was 40%. Therefore, we hope that you find the papers included in this book interesting, and we trust they may represent a helpful reference in the future for all those who need to address any of the research areas mentioned above.

The purpose of WEBIST is to bring together researchers, engineers, and practit- ners interested in the technological advances and business applications of web-based information systems. It has four main topic areas, covering different aspects of web information systems, namely, internet technology; web interfaces and applications; society, e-business and e-government; and e-learning. WEBIST 2007 received 367 submissions from more than 50 countries across all continents. After a double-blind review process, with the help of more than 200 - perts from the international program committee, and also after presentation at the conference, 23 papers were finally selected. Their extended and revised versions are published in this book. This strict selection made the conference appealing to a global audience of engineers, scientists, business practitioners, and policy experts. The - pers accepted and presented at the conference demonstrated a number of new and innovative solutions for e-business and web information systems in general, showing that the technical problems in this field are challenging and worth further R&D effort. The program of this conference also included three outstanding keynote lectures presented by internationally renowned distinguished researchers. Their keynote speeches reinforced the overall quality of the event.
