Jose Ingenieros (1877, Palermo (Italia)-1925, Buenos Aires) Su nombre original era Giuseppe Ingegneri. Fue medico, psiquiatra, psicologo, farmaceutico, escritor, docente, filosofo y sociologo. En 1892, tras terminar sus estudios secundarios, fundo el periodico La Reforma. Hacia 1893, estudio en la Facultad de Medicina de Buenos Aires, de la que se graduo en 1897 de farmaceutico y en 1900 de medico. Ingenieros fue un miembro relevante de la Catedra de Neurologia y del Servicio de Observacion de Alienados de la Policia de la Capital, el cual llego a dirigir. Entre 1902-1913 dirigio los archivos de Psiquiatria y Criminologia y se hizo cargo del Instituto de Criminologia de la Penitenciaria Nacional de Buenos Aires, alternando su trabajo con conferencias en universidades europeas. En 1908 ocupo la Catedra de Psicologia Experimental en la Facultad de Filosofia y Letras de la Universidad de Buenos Aires. Ese ano fundo la Sociedad de Psicologia. Ingenieros termino sus estudios en las universidades de Paris, Ginebra, Lausana y Heidelberg. Sus ensayos sociologicos El hombre mediocre y ensayos criticos y politicos, Hacia una moral sin dogmas, Las fuerzas morales tuvieron un gran influencia en el ambito universitario de Argentina. En 1914 Jose Ingenieros se caso con Eva Rutenberg en Lausana, Suiza. Tuvieron cuatro hijos, Delia, Amalia, Julio y Cecilia. Hacia 1919 renuncio a todos los cargos docentes y comenzo hacia 1920 su etapa politica, participando de manera activa en favor del grupo Claridad, de tendencia comunista. Unos anos despues propuso la formacion de la Union Latinoamericana, una organizacion que difundio sus ideas antiimperialistas. En 1925, poco antes de morir fundo la revista Renovacion, en la que escribio con los pseudonimos de Julio Barreda Lynch y de Raul H. Cisneros. Ingenieros se distancio del socialismo de Estado y empezo a colaborar con periodicos anarquistas, varias de sus obras literarias reflejan este acercamiento. Murio el 31 de octubre de 1925, a los cuarenta y ocho anos.
