The book presents an overview of current research on biologically
inspired autonomous robotics from the perspective of some of the
most relevant researchers in this area. The book crosses several
boundaries in the field of robotics and the closely related field
of artificial life. The key aim throughout the book is to obtain
autonomy at different levels. From the basic motor behavior in some
exotic robot architectures right through to the planning of complex
behaviors or the evolution of robot control structures, the book
explores different degrees and definitions of autonomous behavior.
These behaviors are supported by a wide variety of modeling
techniques: structural grammars, neural networks, and fuzzy logic
and evolution underlies many of the development processes. Thus
this text can be used by scientists and students interested in
these areas and provides a general view of the field for a more
general audience.
Suicide remains one of the most pressing public health concerns
across the world. Expensive in terms of the human cost and
associated suffering, the economic costs, the social costs and the
spiritual costs, it affects millions of people every year. This
important reference work collects together a wide range of research
around suicide and suicide prevention, in order to guide future
research and provide guidance for professionals about the best way
to respond meaningfully to suicidal patients. Responding to the
need for multi-disciplinary and international research to deepen
our understanding of suicide, it demonstrates where our knowledge
is firmly evidence-based and where new areas for research are
emerging, as well as highlighting where we know little. Divided
into six parts, each with its own editorial introduction and
commentary, it explores research with and about survivors of
suicide and indigenous populations. The remaining sections look at
suicide-focused research in psychiatric nursing, psychiatry,
psychology, and social work and allied health. It is of interest to
all advanced students, practitioners and scholars interested in
suicide and its impact and prevention.

This book constitutes the thoroughly referred post-proceedings
of the 11th Conference of the Spanish Association for Artificial
Intelligence, CAEPIA 2005, held in Santiago de Compostela, Spain in
November 2005.
The 48 revised full papers presented together with an invited
paper were carefully selected during two rounds of reviewing and
improvement from an initial total of 147 submissions. The papers
span the entire spectrum of artificial intelligence from
foundational and theoretical issues to advanced applications in
various fields.
ThesearetheproceedingsoftheRoboCup2004Symposium, heldattheInstituto
Superior T ecnico, in Lisbon, Portugal in conjunction with the
RoboCup c- petition. The papers presented here document the many
innovations in robotics that result from RoboCup. A problem in any
branch of science or engineering is how to devise tests that can
provide objective comparisons between alt- native methods. In
recent years, competitive engineering challenges have been
established to motivate researchers to tackle di?cult problems
while providing a framework for the comparison of results. RoboCup
was one of the ?rst such competitions and has been a model for the
organization of challenges foll- ing sound scienti?c principles. In
addition to the competition, the associated symposium provides a
forum for researchers to present refereed papers. But, for RoboCup,
the symposium has the greater goal of encouraging the exchange of
ideas between teams so that the competition, as a whole, progresses
from year to year and strengthens its contribution to robotics. One
hundred and eighteen papers were submitted to the Symposium. Each
paper was reviewed by at least two international referees; 30
papers were - cepted for presentation at the Symposium as full
papers and a further 38 were accepted for poster presentation. The
quality of the Symposium could not be maintained without the
support of the authors and the generous assistance of the
referees."
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 8th
International Conference on Articulated Motion and Deformable
Objects, AMDO 2014, held in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, in July 2014.
The 18 papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from
37 submissions. The conference dealt with the following topics:
geometric and physical deformable models; motion analysis;
articulated models and animation; modeling and visualization of
deformable models; deformable model applications; motion analysis
applications; single or multiple human motion analysis and
synthesis; face modeling, tracking, recovering and recognition
models; virtual and augmented reality; haptics devices; biometric
techniques.

Bogota, Santo Domingo (Rep. Dom.) Miami y lugares como selva de
Colombia, y Macizo colombiano.
A Zombie Prescription is a short story "novella" that wends its way
through the stark and, at times, bleak depiction of life in 21st
Century America (Amuzistann). From the ubiquity of media
programming and mind-numbing technology, to the environmental
engineering and corrupt corporate interests hell-bent on unraveling
the very fabric of society, one man (everyman) is gradually being
transformed...

There is a great worldwide desire to launch new technology-based
business. In this sense, and increasingly, entrepreneurship courses
have arisen in several universities and many of the courses in the
management, administration and engineering areas already offer
entrepreneurship curricular units. Throughout those programs, the
teams develop key integrated competencies in innovation,
entrepreneurship and technology that will ultimately enable the
students to create and develop new technology-based businesses. The
Business Plan Reference Manual for IT Businesses provides a
reference manual for undergraduate and graduate students that
intend to launch their start-up business in the IT field. It helps
them to create and model the business plan of their business.
Therefore, this manual is mainly aimed at instructors who want to
offer a practical view of the process of modeling, designing and
developing an IT start-up. Additionally, it can be individually
used by entrepreneurs who wish to launch their start-up businesses
in IT field. The structure of the book was defined taking into
account different approaches to the construction of the business
plan, which basically consider a disaggregation of some of these
chapters in others smaller (e.g., marketing plan into
products/services and market, financial plan into investment plan
and economic-financial projections). We chose to aggregate these
dimensions into a single chapter, which in our view facilitates the
process of analyzing a business plan. It is also relevant to
mention the inclusion of "Chapter V - Prototype description" which
is innovative and intends to take into account the application of
this business plan template to the information technology sector.
