Early in Dr. Brierly's career as a mathematician doing operations research for the US Department of Defense the author acquired an interest in investigating ways to optimize winning games of chance. He recognized that every gambling game offers a potential for applying probability and statistics to optimize bets. His first interest in this regard was devoted to picking winners at the harness horse races. After several years the author developed a computer system that essentially simulated a horse race based on race program data. He applied the simulation regularly for twenty years making a profit of 30 to 50 percent on bets every year. A future book will be offered that gives information on the author's harness race picking software. In the 1980s Dr. Brierly decided that he would write a computer program that gave advantage for winning lotteries. He invented and programmed a one-of-a-kind algorithm that finds the bias in any lottery based on its past outcomes. The lottery program titled BESTLOT underwent careful development until it reached perfection. No one has an algorithm that can do what the author's program BESTLOT can do. It is a unique copyrighted program that will only be available at the author's Ebay store DOULTONANDMORE. It is believed that serious lottery players will want to buy a copy of the software after reading this book that explains in depth how the author came within a 50-50 chance of winning ten million dollars using the BESTLOT software. Verification of the BESTLOT advantage may be observed at the author's website INTERJETIC.COM. In addition, at this website there are a number of research articles written by the author in both pure and applied mathematics. The author's biography may also be found at the hyperlink Acadbio found at his website listing a number of the author's awards along with his experience and education background. Viewers will find ample substantiation for the author's abilities to have accomplished exactly what he claims at his website.

Poetry Lives Forever - Rhymes For Our Times (Paperback): Joseph Edward Brierly Ph D Poetry Lives Forever - Rhymes For Our Times (Paperback)

One might wonder why anyone in this day and age of electronics would feel a need to write poetry. There is a simple answer. No better way exists to express insightful feelings than by putting it in poetry form. Who remembers endless prose? Few do. Capturing insight in the form of a poem has a powerful impact unlike reams of prosaic writing. Any one who doubts this point should read T.S. Eliot's Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock or Gerontion. Old men reading these Eliot poems understand fully the enigmas of growing old in a younger world. Poetry gives lasting power to conveying the spirit of the day. All poets write about things that relate to their culture and times. My collection of poems is about times from WWII to present times. By comparison Bret Harte wrote poems about the Civil War days because that was the major event of his times. Harte could not have written about our times in a meaningful way. But if anyone really desires to feel the spirit of the Civil War days then they should read Harte's poetry. You will feel like you are living the Civil War days by reading Harte's poetry. His capturing of those times is unforgettable when in the form of poetry. The book offered is appropriately titled: Poetry Lives Forever. The first poem serves as an introduction to the book and is also titled identically. In the introductory poem I give insight into why I believe poetry has a lasting way of conveying spirit of current times and will have infinite value long after time runs out and mankind perishes. One hundred years from now, if this collection is read, I know that those who read and recite the poems will get a sense of the true feeling for the spirit of the culture of our day. There is one last important point to mention. The poems are presented in random order for good reason. The random unpredictable order forces each poem to be quite different than the previous one. It is hoped that the reader will develop an anticipation of a pleasant surprise coming in the content of the next poem. Grouping poems by similarity of content would surely bore anyone with intelligence. No one should ever be bored by things being too organized.

Animal photoons are much like cartoons excepting they are based on real-life photography. And photoons often have more narrative than what is usually found in a cartoon. Future plans are to make a sequence of photoon books. This first book contains 188 photoons. Everyone viewing them will get their share of smiles, belly laughs and guffaws. There is something funny for everyone of all ages and sophistication. This book is highly original. No book comparable to this collection can be found any where but here. The photography captures extremely unique images of animals found at a typical zoo. The photoon narrative is written by a highly skilled professional author Dr. Joseph E. Brierly who has published many types of literature and award winning research articles. The content of the photoons in this book will appeal to a wide audience of various educational levels. Many of the photoons are for the adult mind. Some of them require a high degree of sophistication. Yet, many will appeal to all ages. You will love this book. And it will make a great uniquely delightful gift to your friends and relatives. There is nothing like humor to lift the spirit.
